Obama's hair is getting whiter.
I noticed that Obama's hair has started to get whiter. I first noticed it when he got back from his adventure. You can see it in these pictures from last night. There's also a picture from earlier in the year at the bottom.

I first noticed it here:

Here's a picture from earlier this year:

2. Hell I've gotten gray hairs just watching the last several years of politics
and I'm freaking 33. I couldn't imagine having to deal with this stuff every single day like he does. I'd probably had a heart attack or an aneurysm back when those Muslim BS emails started getting sent out if I was him. :)

5. Don't you age 7 to 1 when you're president?
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 08:59 AM by Bleachers7
That means McCain would be 100 years old in 2012.

8. Stress can do that to you
And running for President is pretty darn stressful. I also wonder if his campaign is letting it happen (i.e. not coloring) so that he looks a bit older. Maybe they think it will help with those voters who think he's "too young" or "too inexperienced"

he looked so young back then. Even in his Iowa speech, he looked young. The stresses of running a presidential campaign for this long has caught up to him. Still, he looks way better than Frankenstein McCain, that's for sure.

18. Yep - here is an article on it:

Campaign trail a gray area for Obama

The realization almost always prompts a double take, a moment of inspection, maybe even a debate: Is baby-faced Barack Obama, the symbol of a younger political generation, actually aging in front of us?

By his own admission this week, “the gray is coming quick,” so that it now dusts his head like snowflakes. The laugh lines cut a little deeper, and the crow's-feet around his eyes appear slightly more pronounced.

The presidency ages presidents, but so, it seems, has the longest campaign in modern history aged a candidate.

“By the time I’m sworn in, I will look the part,” Obama acknowledged to donors Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colo., one month before his 47th birthday.

He confirmed what has been whispered for months among political insiders and raised in reader e-mails to journalists who cover him closely: Similar to President Bush and former President Bill Clinton, who came into office with far less gray hair and wrinkles than when they prepared to exit, Obama is already developing the presidential patina, a weathered look that builds after months of sleepless nights and stress.

I'm 2 years older than he and have a lot more grey than he does! Being female, I am vain enough to cover it up, though!

Maybe it's just nature taking his course. It'll take away from the meme he is too young and inexperienced.

McSame is entirely white (what he has left).

28. "A white-headed nigger is a good nigger."
That's a phrase I heard many times as a child in the Jim Crow South. It exemplifies the casual racism that was the cultural norm then, and is now only under the surface, but not truly diminished.

33. It's meant to be offensive. That's how you convey the power of what is (was) being said.
When those white people said it in the 1950's, without any rancor, think how offensive it must have been to black people who overheard it. And how unlikely it was to be changed by any method other than decades of laws, Federal marshals and affirmative action.

It's a bad word, but we ought not shrink from it.

And not everyone who doesn't mind seeing Obama's hair turn grey is racist or uses that word.

I like seeing all men of all skin color show their age... not dye their hair... not comb-over.

It is a bad word, and it shouldn't be used. And it still shouldn't be used under the guise of trying to teach all us racist dumbfucks that it's a bad word.

50. Don't "should" on me and I won't "should" on you.
I understand that it's a terrible word, and offensive to any reasonable person. I put it in print here to describe my own experience and to illustrate what (often) well-meaning white folks said, routinely, only 50 years ago. The word had power then, despite its casual use, because black people REALLY WERE in de facto slavery to whites, a hundred years after their "emancipation." The word has power now for quite a different reason: the dominant white culture is working through its shame and guilt, as it must, to come to some understanding and transformation of the racial divide that's defined American life for all these years.

You have your own experiences with race, just as everyone does. I admit my own racial biases and fears, as well as hopes. I have not written this word, as far I can remember, until now - and I don't intend to do it again. But as I read the post to which I responded, those memories came flooding back, and I was engaged in another bit of healing. Perhaps some people on these boards who have never experienced the kind of matter-of-fact use of this word, very different from its frequent use in the hip-hop world, will understand how it really was.

45. It's been greying gradually for a long time
Being a former hairdresser, I notice these things. When he takes too long between haircuts, it really shows. Looks like he's going to have a big streak of gray on the right/top side of his head, with a salt/pepper mix throughout.

As for suggestions that he's been coloring it, Obama doesn't strike me as the type. He strikes me as a fellow more concerned about waiting too long between trips to his barber. If he were the tinting type, he'd be going to a salon. Barbers usually have a big front window and his does. :)

He just buys a box once a month. The box lasts him about a month, he does his moustache and hair with the same stuff. His hair grows fairly fast but he doesn't keep his hair as closely cropped as O's and can hide it well so every 2-3 weeks he's on gray patrol just before going to the barber.

He'd never go to a stylist to have it done and doesn't want to spend anymore time than is absolutely necessary in the barber's chair.

But, my hubby doesn't have O's money either.

Like clockwork. Tipped good too. Oh well.

I got nothing against a man coloring his hair. Hair is damned personal. For black men and ladies, graying can be difficult, especially if they have very curly hair and choose a natural style. Streaks of gray tend to look like spots.
