Rasmussen is more of a joke everyday...
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 10:08 AM by darius15
Last week they released a poll of Ohio that showed McCain up 52-42. Now, they have a California poll showing Obama up 52-42.

So, they're telling me that OHIO is as REPUBLICAN as CALIFORNIA is DEMOCRATIC? Gimme a break.

1. California's a lot more Democratic than people think.
Couple that with their desire to avoid offshore drilling and it will deliver itself to Obama by a large enough margin to dissuade McCain from spending cash there.

I don't believe the Ohio poll, though. The margin there will be a lot closer, no matter who wins the state.

2. That Ramussen Poll for Ohio was well outside the margins of every other poll for Ohio
The straight up was McCain +6. That is outside the margin of error and definatly a bigger advantage than any other poll has shown.

McCain only went up to +10 when leaners were included.

I think this poll was is off. I'm sure that another polling compnay is going to want to either prove Rasmussen wrong or confirm their poll, so there should be another Ohio poll shortly.

I think we'll see the race back within the MOE when that poll comes out.

3. Now they have Obama only up by 3
Saying the bounce is "fading." Until proven otherwise, I say Rasmussen is full of it.

12. They tend to have outliers
And I don't think the daily polls have been very good either. Gas prices and drilling hurting us? They should be hurting McCain. And Obama has had positive reviews for his trip.

5. I think their focus on "likely" voters negates the effects of voter registration drives,
since newly registered voters usually* answer "no" to the screening question of "did you vote in the last election?".

* unless they voted in another state or at another address

6. Excuse me?
California has been solidly Democratic in presidential elections since 1992, and the legislature and most of the statewide offices are also controlled by Democrats. The only major Republican figure here is Governor Terminator, an obvious special case. Where have you been? The Democratic Party would have little chance of winning the presidency without California in its column.

8. Let me make myself clear...
What I'm trying to say is that Rasmussen shows Obama up by 10 in California, while he is probably up by 15 or 20 in that state. Rasmussen also shows Ohio going to McCain by 10, even though in reality, it is not more than 2 points either way. Thus, I'm saying that Rasmussen's bias is showing.

9. I believe the problem was with the claim that Ohio is as solidly
Republican and California is solidly Democratic - if OH was THAT Republican, it would not be a swing state.

10. That's my point
That's why I think Rasmussen is becoming more of a joke! because Ohio is definitely not that Republican. And California is more Democratic than their polls show.
