Biopsy is being tested as we speak

BAKERSFIELD, California (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who has suffered from skin cancer in the past, said on Monday his doctor has removed a spot from his face during a routine checkup in Phoenix earlier in the day.

McCain said the spot on the right side of his face, which an aide described as being like a mole, would be biopsied to ensure it was not cancerous.

"At this point it was just a precautionary removal," an aide told reporters on McCain's campaign plane.

The Arizona senator discussed the spot while speaking to journalists at an oil field in Bakersfield, California, where he was pushing his energy agenda.

1. This is actually a very standard procedure. Drs have been removing suspicious
moles & marks for a long time, and they are even more vigilant when the patient has a history of skin cancer. I agree, I've thought a lot about McNuts dropping out claiming a med. problem, but I doubt it would be a fake one. He's much to egotistic for that.

2. I'm sorry, but the idea that McCain as nominee is a diversion is just STUPID.
He won the nomination by winning the most primaries, despite being relatively unpopular among the GOP base. That's how it works. There wasn't some coordinated effort on the part of Republicans to make McCain look like the nominee as part of a bait and switch. And they don't HAVE a serious candidate. McCain is probably the best they can do. Seriously. Who else do the Republicans HAVE who is a) a credible nominee and b) acceptable to their base? Not Giuliani; he's a creepy and unlikeable asshole with a penchant for crossdressing who's far too liberal for the religions nuts, homophobes, and anti-choicers; Romney's Mormonism is looked at with suspicion by evangelical Protestants; Huckabee would win over the base, but scare away moderates and swing voters; Jindal is too young and inexperienced (and has some of the same problems as Huckabee). The only Republican who could actually win this year is probably Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he's constitutionally barred from running.

3. This is how I've been saying that they would replace him.
Repug leaders have for a while been dissatisfied with McCain's performance. I've always said that if things start going REALLY badly for him (and it sure appears that it is), that they would use his health as a reason to get rid of him and pick a handpicked candidate - perhaps Mittens or Condi. So, now, in the next few days, McCain gets a convenient diagnosis of a relapse of melanoma, and withdraws in favor of another candidate to be selected in a backroom at the RNC.

4. I think that you may be right
don't forget that KKK-Newt Gingrich may step in as Presidential nominee. The GOP Conservatives will go in spasms of delight and Gingrich is a good debater, too. So McMole may end up stepping down in favor of the Grinch.

5. It could happen, He is only the presumptive nominee.
He could drop out. I wonder what their rules say about how to replace the presumptive nominee when the convention has not yet been held. Do all the delegates get to vote for whomever they'd like to vote for?

6. I've been saying Newt would weasel in too!
He could never win the primaries, but he is egotistical enough to think he could do it by a floor-fight, and he is very powerful behind the scenes. The fascist wing loves him, and he would continue the Cheney/Rove agenda. It's no secret that he's wanted to be president forever. The danger is that he clearly would have no qualms about using criminal means to win the election.

7. He should have had his entire face removed for biopsy.
Or at least his entire grimace.

8. He's looking much better. Just a few more growths to go...

He might not make a good president, but he'd be an ideal bruce. Look for him in Braveheart II.
