Randi just threw something out there.... |

Apparently McCain has had another skin growth removed, and it's being biopsied today. (?) So she's positing, hmmm... maybe we'll be looking at a Romney/Obama race in November.
I'm merely a neutral reporter, just passing this along for what it's worth.

Basal cell cancers are quite common and almost never threaten life.
Melanoma is more serious, but if removed completely, it should be a non issue as well.
We need to beat him on the issues, not this peripheral stuff.

5. I had melanoma about twenty years ago -- |

at the time, you either "got it all" or you died.
I've heard that there is SOME treatment available now. Still don't know what they can do if it gets into your bloodstream. I'm sure that McCain's doctors err on the side of safety.
Agree that we need to beat him on the issues -- and we ARE, but I felt this brought up a valid possibility, that McCain may step aside due to medical reasons (skin cancer or something else), in which case, we'd have a different scenario to deal with.
Shit happens.

9. He won't step aside unless he has metastatic melanoma. |

Bad prognosis and the smart decision on his part, if that is the case.
I think his health is otherwise pretty good, considering his age. Weren't records released?
I don't wish bad diseases on anyone regardless of their politics.

he is not the same man from 2000. The only thing holding him together is the rovian Gestapo that has taken over his listless campaign.

On the other hand, this sort of thing does have an impact on the Presidency. We don't want to have to deal with press releases like, "Advisors say the President will be looking into the Middle East situation as soon as he has another strange, disgusting thing carved off his face."
"When the 3 A.M. call came in, the President was having half his ear removed, because it had been taken over by malignant tissue that was plotting with a growth on his back to take over his left armpit."

8. If that were to happen... |

...it would be every bit as disastrous as if Hillary got the nomination in Denver and tried to mount a run for the WH.
No infrastructure. Precious little time to raise money. Disorganization(to a worse degree than even the McThuselah campaign) from top to bottom in the GOP.
And if they inserted Mittens, they'd still be stuck with a candidate that a lot of Repubs just do not like.
If Mitt takes the wheel, Bob Barr will make a third-party run of historic proportions. I'd say he'll siphon off 10% of the Repub vote.
G'wan, GOP. Replace one loser with another. I'll watch.
