What is up with Obama and the capital gains tax??? |
Suddenly all of the Republicans are up in arms in South Carolina spreading rumors that Obama is going to raise the capital gains tax to 35%! Is there some freaking new email going around about this?? All of sudden people are asking ME this question and I have to direct them to links to prove that this is a bunch of BS (as if they are too damn stupid to use 'the google' themselves). But I swear the sudden increase of people here in SC saying just the last couple of days leads me to believe there is some other mass email going out from the McCain campaign that is setting this in motion. Anyone know of such nonsense?

1. He says he will raise it to 28% |
Which means after congress gets their way it will be no higher than 25%.

4. I know what he says...but why the sudden rumors going on?? |
I swear it is unbelievable the number of times I have heard this BS in the last few days. The McCain campaign is definitely up to something. Perhaps it is just here in SC where they feel they don't have to campaign..but they can send Lindsey Graham out to spread the lies. Hmmm...probably so now that I think of it.

8. I heard the 28% figure too. |
He can't raise any tax. Congress has that privilege.

9. Actually he said 28% or less. |
He thought it'd be less than 28% which is apparently what it was under Clinton.

3. Yes, there is an e-mail making the rounds. |
Got it from my sister the other day. Obama's website has a link posted from FactCheck.org debunking the e-mail. It is also on Snopes. Here's the link to FactCheck. http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/would_obama_tax_my_profits_if_i.html

6. Yes there's a new email pushing that. Check snopes and you'll |
be able to read it and that it's all FALSE! Snopes also lists the true positions of Obama. I received the stupid email yesterday! I KNEW as soon as I started reading it that it was wrong. I came to my friends on DU and was sent to snopes. There are actually several false emails being circulated against Obama now. I copied the snopes link and "replied to all" on the emails I got. Made me feel good that I had countered it with 16 people!

10. I think the FactCheck.org is the better link... |
Since that is the one that Dick Cheney referenced during the 2004 campaign for anyone who wanted to check the truth about rumors being posted about the Bush Administration. ;) http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/would_obama_tax_my_profits_if_i.html
