1. No "Obama-Bye!" ticket, please.
Morans across the country are just waiting to turn this into this year's "flip flop" gimmick.

24. Bayh CO-CHAIRED COMMITTEE FOR THE LIBERATION OF IRAQ W JOHN MCCAIN!
Why put a war monger on the ticket? Sounds bad but it looks much worse.

2. I can't choose.
The only one I know enough about to opine on is Biden. I think he would be a fantastic pick in practice--he would do a great job. Media spin on him would be another story. On the other hand, we can't win the media game, so I guess if I HAD to choose from these three it would be Biden. He's a smart guy and there is no doubt about his qualifications. But I didn't vote.

15. Well, he's got that corn-fed, clean-scrubbed Boy Scout thing going.
Indiana is in play already, perhaps an upset win if Bayh's on the ticket.

I don't care for Evan. I liked his old man Birch. Now there was a liberal.

7. Richardson
Two senators guarantees a McLoon win. Kaine has been loyal to Obama, but he doesn't bring much to the ticket.

Biden could well be a cabinet pick after the election, but we do not want Mr. Bankruptcy "Reform" running on the ticket with millions of people under assault by the credit card companies and other financial vampires right now.

Bayh? :puke: Almost as bad as Hagel. Hell, at least Hagel changed his mind on the war.

9. I love Richardson, but I don't think he would be a good VP pick
strategically. I'm afraid that he would alienate too many former Hillary supporters and those LIV who might be persuaded by their screeding that he's a "Judas" and an "opportunist," which you know the whoremedia would love and would run with nonstop. JMO.

There are other reasons I would be less than happy with Bill as VP, but this is my immediate concern about him.

19. Hey weiner, Tim Kaine is far from that, he is no Mittens
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 01:02 AM by 48percenter
He is a really nice guy, I've met him. But he is no used car salesman, really. :eyes:

Edit: meant to add, having said that I don't think he is VP material for Obama. BO needs someone with equal pizazz.

22. Well, I was just commenting on his looks, not his character. He looks shifty
to me, but I'm sure he's a good guy. If Mittens looked like a used-car salesman, that would be an improvement for him.

28. He has Irish Squinties
He comes across as anything but shifty or smarmy. If anything, he's overly earnest!

I think you're hung up on the eyes. Those aren't "Joe Isuzu eyes", they're Irish Squinties. Those of us who are chubby-faced sons and daughters of the Ould Sod have an affliction where we scrunch up our eyes when smiling.

17. Obama/Debs '08!
Maybe they'll carry Indiana.

There are a number of good candidates that would help win one or more states in the Midwest, reinforcing one of Obama's strengths.
Claire McCaskill, Ted Strickland, Sherrod Brown, Kathleen Sebelius, Tom Vilsack.

18. Biden, Kaine and then Bayh
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 12:28 AM by davidpdx
I think Biden would be the first on my list because of his experience, then probably Kaine and Bayh. The problem with Bayh and Biden though is that they are sitting senators. If Byah were to become the nominee, it would heavily depend on the Democrat winning the election in Indiana so that Bayh could wait after she is sworn in to resign, then she could likely appoint a Democrat.

I worry that we will lose a seat in the Senate which are very difficult to pick up. We've been trying to get rid of Gordon Smith in Oregon for 12 years now and might finally have a shot this year at doing it.

20. Someone the other day pointed out how Obama-Biden sounds kind of weird. It's a stupid
reason not to choose someone for VP, but god knows that people vote based on stupid reasons. So, the mere fact that Obama-Kaine sounds better than Obama-Biden or Obama-Bayh may be enough to choose Kaine.

On the other hand, Barack Obama's a weird name and the guy's managed to do pretty damn good, so maybe there really isn't much to this whole name thing.

21. We got the current President because he was beer-worthy.

I don't care if our candidate had the name Hitler. As long as the candidate were honest and had a progressive set of policies, I'd support them.

25. I picked Kaine as the lesser of three I don't like...
Biden strikes me as too much of a crusader on the gun issue (the last thing Obama needs in the general election is to resurrect the "Dems'll-take-yer-guns" meme, which Biden in the VP slot would almost certainly do), and Bayh just doesn't have much visibility nationally, IMO. I'm not thrilled with Kaine, but he seems to have the least liabilities of those three.

Personally, I'd like to see Schweitzer (MT) or Webb, but I know Webb has ruled out a VP run and I don't think Schweitzer is on the short list.

26. They want Obama to pick a Washington Insider so McCain can pick an outside the
beltway regular guy so they can use it to reinforce the false meme - Obama/regular politician, McCain/the maverick represents real change.

27. Biden
Biden's the best of the pack. Still, Bayh and Kaine would be solid choices as well.
