Sebelius, Kaine, Bayh, Biden VP Choices for Obama
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/07/sebelius_kaine_bayh_biden.php

just a snip of the article.

The following three Democrats are being vetted by Eric Holder and Caroline Kennedy and there is independent evidence that Obama is taking a serious look at them:

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, Gov. Tim Kaine, Sen. Evan Bayh.

Additionally, allies of Sen. Joe Biden say that he is under serious consideration, although he is not being subjected to the same level of vetting.

2. Kaine and Sebelius do not amplify Obama's appeal
since thay lack foreign policy experience...Kaine has less than one term as Governor, Sebelius has the edge there. I think that Biden, Clinton and Bayh have more to offer. And the dark horse: Schweitzer

4. I think many of us are going to be disappointed with whomever he chooses--
there doesn't seem to be an obvious choice to rally around, so everyone seems to have developed a different preference.

6. I know--I hope it's Biden too, but I have the same fear--that he won't
be able to keep his mouth shut when he needs to. I almost wish the VP didn't have to campaign--just could be appointed.

7. I am warming to Tim Kaine
I just saw him on MSNBC, I think he could be good. To put Sebilius on the ticket is a slap in the face to Hillary Clinton, I think it will piss off alot of her supporters. Just a hunch.

Bayh? BORING.

BIDEN -- hell YES!!

My choices: Biden, Kaine, no further....

11. I don't buy the Clinton argument against Sebelius
Clinton put herself into this position by trying to strong arm Obama during the primaries. As a result of that, she's created a rogue faction of her most adament of supporters who I don't see really having an impact on this election anyway. If she wanted VP, then she should have played nicer...that's just a fact. By being so divisive, she likely took herself out of contention.

17. I'm going to have to stay focused on McCain, I think.
It may have to be about defeating him, in my mind. Every time I just start feeling good about Obama, something safe and same-old and extremely disappointing comes out of his campaign, and I lose hope all over again. :(

8. If I was forced to choose amonst these
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 10:28 AM by The empressof all
My gut is telling me it's going to be Bayh. It certainly wouldn't be my choice it's just a gut feeling based on no one thing in particular other than he's probably the least controversial with those in the "Middle" and probably the most telegenic. That's my superficial assessment of this---at least right now at this very moment.

9. for some strange reason I think its going to be Bayh
also. Biden will be appointed to a Cabinet position, god, I hate speculating who knows what is going to happen in Nov. 2008. I am just optimistically cautious right now.

...you can provide further examples of DLCers "sucking up" to Republicans in larger numbers than other Democrats.

Can you?

13. I still think Kaine would help the most
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 11:00 AM by mvd
My personal choice among the main candidates would be Hillary. Many low-info types would be turned off, but I've meant an equal amount who support her because of the Clinton-era prosperity compared to now.

I just hope Kaine comes through on some of the things being discussed: choice, gay rights, the environment, etc.

18. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE !! A.B.B. ANYBODY BUT BAYH

"- A.B.B. - ANYBODY BUT BAYH!!

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/07/bayh_as_veep_he_cochaired_wing.php

"In 2003, Bayh was an honorary co-chair of the neocon pro-war Committee for the Liberation of Iraq -- a group he joined along with none other than John McCain and Joe Lieberman, according to a press release from during the run-up to the invasion.

Check this out, from the group's press release on February 14th, 2003 (via Nexis):

The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq (CLI) is pleased to welcome Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) as an Honorary Co-Chairman. Bayh becomes the third U.S. Senator to join the committee after Sens. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced their participation on January 28.

The Committee is a neo-con group that was formed to propagandize the country into war. It boasted such illustrious neocon members as Bill Kristol, former CIA director James Woolsey, and even McCain senior foreign policy adviser and Chalabi-bamboozler Randy Scheunemann, whom Josh has been blogging about.

Bayh would, to put it very charitably, muddle Obama's message. It's true that Bayh was said to have subsequently removed himself from the group. But Obama's campaign is partly about -- and rightly so -- the judgment he made, and others didn't, in the run-up to the invasion.

The McCain campaign and the Repubs would have a grand time mocking the choice. Indeed, the McCain camp is already trying to make an issue of Bayh's past."."

19. Then it will be either Sebelius or Kaine.
NO SENATORS.

No offense to either Bayh or Biden, but another Senator gives the RNC a whole new voting record to lie about and distort--and both of them have been in the Senate long enough to have quite a rap sheet.

20. None of these really FIT what Obama was looking for. DOUBT SELECTION WILL HAVE MAJOR IMPACT
if it is one of theses. Between those who declined and those vetoed by the purist, there is not much left.

26. and just what is it you think Obama was "looking for"?
There is no such thing. Job searches and interviews are like a dart game. Two people really never know what they are looking for until they meet, in the appropriate context.
