Looks Like LeBron is Voting For Obama

July 28th, 2008

We don’t have to worry about LeBron James voting for John McCain.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star donated $20,000 to the Presidential campaign of Barack Obama .

Politics and sports usually don’t mix, but this is the first time that we have seen an African-American become a major player for the White House.

What would the response be if it came out that LeBron had donated $20,000 to McCain?

Would fans really care either way which lesser of two evils LeBron was supporting?

1. LaBron is a class act and the city of Cleveland loves him for it.

10. He wouldn't be appreciated as much in NYC
He may be paid more though...

He seems to know that. I hope he takes it always into consideration when tempted.

14. I agree with you
I hope he takes that into consideration also.

The thing that bothers me is that the front office doesn't seem to be getting the right players to surround him. They made some bad choices and now have these fat contracts that they can't unload.

20. I used to work for the Tribe and the Browns
Front Offices are indoubabtalby stacked with overpaid idiots with huge egos. Sometimes ex-players or general know-it-alls working in a rich man's hobby. I'm sure there are exceptions.

22. I bet that was a cool job
I hope Danny Ferry is able to do something. Lebron said at the end of this season, "We have to get better". He mentioned that everyone else got better.

25. It wasn't. It put me off from pro-sports for life sad to say.

Most players are either d***s, idiots, holy-rollers (baseball more-so), or a general combination of the three. Andre Rison and Manny Ramirez are in the first two groups (Andre's dead ex Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez of TLC was no prize winner either...) Orel Hershiser was in the third group...total Jebus nut. I can think of a couple occasions where I was patroling the grounds and some of the young guys would say "fag alert" when I walked in the training room. It was part of my route.

Funny thing, I was pretty quiet back then but was not and am not effeminate at all...nor am I gay for that matter. I guess they were just d***s.

and yes Albert Bell really is a king sized ASSHOLE. His parents were nice folks though. I remember his ex-fionce...really pretty girl and very sweet and submissive. Glad it never happened. She didn't deserve that...no woman does.

There are shining examples of the opposite. Lebron is one. Sandy Alomar is another. Great guy Sandy...stopped in the security room late nights and brought a sixer of Sam Adams for us. We chatted as if he were one of us.

26. I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't a good experience
Players do have huge egos. I heard about Manny. They say he wouldn't even listen to Hargrove, he would just walk away from him as he was talking. Since he' been saying he wants out of Boston a local radio sports guy says he would take him back in an heartbeat. I wouldn't.

Sandy Alomar seemed like a nice guy. I've heard that Austin Carr is very nice. I've met Reggie Rucker of the Browns and he's nice.

23. C'mon, LeBron can hit it from the cheap seats!
Haven't you seen that commercial from a while back where he hits one (nothing but net ... string music) from the length of the court, opposite baseline????

There's NOTHING LeBron can't do on the court! I bet with just a little coaching, Obama could hit that same shot ...

15. "which lesser of two evils LeBron was supporting"
so is BET TV is against Obama also? Does Obama have to beat EVERY DAMNED MEDIA OUTLET in this country to win?
I do not see this as a choice of the lesser of two evils. I see one outstanding candidate and one really bad choice. Really, really bad choice.

27. heard an unfortunate tidbit this weekend, from a reliable source ...
LeBron, whom I have said has been a good image for Cleveland, has a nasty habit of tipping $5 when he eats out at a nearby restaurant (and I'm not talking McD's ...).

No matter the size of the entourage (girlfriend & kids), no matter the bill, no matter what he eats ... $5 tip.

And now I see he's for Obama ... annoys me ... the tip thing ...

29. I've heard that also
There was a story in a local paper that blew up on the internet that claimed he left a $10 tip on an $800 bill. His people denied it but there have been many stories around that say the opposite.

He is such an image conscious person I would have thought he would have put these rumors to rest by now.
