1. The Hispanic vote is huge.
For that reason alone it should be Richardson.

5. Not the same as being Hispanic.
Richardson also has good foreign policy experience from his days in the Clinton White House.

8. Richardson
Richardson. He is the most qualified person to be president, let alone vice president.

14. Obama is already leading among Hispanics by better than 2-1.
Richardson might be able to boost that margin a little bit, but there's not that much room for improvement. Probably Hispanics will comprise around 7-9% of the total electorate. The Richardson boost might only amount to an extra point.

3. Richardson isn't a "pit bull" like Biden or Clinton
But of these two, he's my choice.

4. I like Richardson better. I think Richardson would make a better V.P. However...
I do not know which of the two would do better at increasing Obama's chances of winning.

6. I would choose Richardson, but speaking as a white person....
....who grew up in the Bronx.

I think the average white person (or should I say the average bigoted, or on the cusp bigoted white person) would think two non-white candidates would be going to far.

I hate to admit to this, but most of the white people I know in the Bronx would never vote for a black man. ...I'm doing my best to change their minds, -I go as far as telling these people that I would personally blame them if my kids are drafted to fight in McCain's war with Iran.

I like Bidden, he gives voters the same qualities they THINK they're getting with McCain.

13. Richardson is Hispanic. I don't think America is ready to vote for TWO minorities
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 01:08 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
I also don't think it is ready to vote for BOTH a minority and a woman. I disagree with most of you. Though I really like Richardson and think he'd certainly make a good VP, Obama will do well among Hispanics. Kaine speaks fluent Spanish and will appeal to the so-called "working class whites." I think Obama will win New Mexico as well. The GOP will rely on racist fears of Mexicans to push back against that ticket. Kaine will help pull Obama over the top in VA.

18. I'm from Va. and I like Kaine and would be o.k. with him.....but
Richardson is a better man for the job. Some on here have expressed doubts about two non-white males on the same ticket and that has to be considered whether we like it or not.
That being said Kaine could then become the safe choice (moderate to conservative Dem.) as well as
a nice way to flip Va. from red to blue.

21. Careful what you wish for - Richardson has some "baggage"
The same type of baggage that Republican's love to have as their talking point and it would dominate the media cycle. While no one knows that the rumors are true, sexual misconduct rumors are deadly - which is sad, since they matter little in the grand scheme of the election.

22. In all the stories about VP Richardson isn't even hardly mentioned, I think because...
Hillary vetoed him. There was a lot of bad blood there. I don't think it will be Richardson.
