Schweitzer not being on the VP short list is a blunder.. |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 02:11 PM by tokenlib
Listening to Brian Schweitzer on Ed Schultz it is clear he is smart, gifted, and could shred the GOP candidates on energy and other issues.. He attacks in "everyman, down to earth,non-politican, language" that would balance Obama perfectly. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when he talked about his dog not liking the "skunks" (lobbyists, etc) in DC. He would appeal to the rural and blue collar types like no one in recent history....
What a missed opportunity...

1. How do you know he's not on it? |
|
Maybe there is a reason the names out there were leaked. So the pick is a surprise?

4. That's what I'm thinking...even though I'm |
|
probably deluding myself. He would be the perfect pick, but then again this is the Democratic Party and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is what we're good at.

5. Even Obama/ David Duke wouldn't do very well in the south. |
|
Obama has a shot at Virginia and Florida. It worth giving some other southern states a shot, like NC or GA or MS, but the good news is:
He doesn't need the south. Again... He doesn't need the south.
Kerry states plus Iowa and Indiana = President Obama Kerry states plus Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado = President Obama Kerry states plus Ohio = President Obama etc.

8. Actually Obama is doing okay in the south |
|
on his own without a running mate. Polls show him ahead in Virgina and Florida and within the margin of error in North Carolina and within striking distance in South Carolina and Georgia. He's doing better than Gore or Kerry were at this point in the south in '00 and '04.

6. I wouldn't take anything leaked to the press as reality. |
|
I am sure Obama is considering people who aren't on 'the short list'. I hope he picks someone that will surprise the media; someone they didn't expect.
