Mark Begich - a key to Alaska
A real chance to replace a rotten crook with a good guy! We need to take Ted Stevens' senate seat, and give us another pick-up for the Democrats. Begich is currently ahead in the polls with 49% to Stevens' 43%.

This can also give Obama a boost in Alaska where the latest polls show McCain ahead by only 7 points, 48% t0 41%. Bush took Alaska with 62% in 2004 (an even larger percentage than the 59% he won 2000). We now have a real chance now with Ted Stevens going down in flames, and a strong candidate like Mark Begich.

PS: I'm a fan of his brother Dr. Nick too (more about Nick here: http://www.earthpulse.com/src/category.asp?catid=13 ).

3. Could Begich's reverse coattails help Obama?
With Stevens' indictment, it seems the Democrats are poised to take his Senate seat.

Could Begich help pull Obama over the line to beat McCain?

5. The primary isn't until late August -so Begich may not even be running against Stevens

7. Begich will win the nomination. Hands down.
I don't have the poll data at my finger tips, but it isn't even close.

Now it's possible that Ted Stevens will not be the Rep nominee. They could dump him, or he could self dump (same thing), and they could go with Vic Vickers. Either way it is an uphill battle for them. hehe

A few more details: "Stevens is up for re-election this year and was already facing a tough opponent in charismatic Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, whose father Nick, the state's last Democratic Congressman, died tragically in a plane crash in 1972. The latest Rasmussen poll showed Begich opening up an 8-point lead on Stevens. Stevens is also facing a primary challenge from an eccentric businessman, Vic Vickers. Republicans must be hoping that Stevens either loses the primary or resigns following the indictment, otherwise this race will turn into a landslide."

6. I would love to see Obama stop in Alaska

McCain would have to follow and all that mileage would wear him down.

Actually I would love to see Obama sweep through a whole bunch of red states and make McCain just trail after him lol

8. He has a great opportunity now
I can't imagine the voters of Alaska sending Stevens back with this cloud of corruption hanging over him.

Mark's polling numbers next month should be over 50% easy.

Good luck to Mark Begich in Alaska!

Sonia

9. the one thing that unites people across the spectrum here is a hatred
of corruption. Begich will get the nom and so will either Diane Benson or Ethan Berkowitz against Don Young. Don is considered toast. That is a dem pick up, we get only one congressman. I think ted is history. I think we will go blue.
