Hit piece by Dana Milbank
President Obama Continues Hectic Victory Tour
Barack Obama has long been his party's presumptive nominee. Now he's becoming its presumptuous nominee.

Fresh from his presidential-style world tour, during which foreign leaders and American generals lined up to show him affection, Obama settled down to some presidential-style business in Washington yesterday. He ordered up a teleconference with the (current president's) Treasury secretary, granted an audience to the Pakistani prime minister and had his staff arrange for the chairman of the Federal Reserve to give him a briefing. Then, he went up to Capitol Hill to be adored by House Democrats in a presidential-style pep rally.

I'm so sick of these assholes!

Obama has been the most in-our-face nominee I can ever remember - but - honestly, with the gigantic mess our current so-called "president" intends to hand over, the next president cannot get started soon enough

They're the ones ruining the country. Ron Fournier. Nedra Pickler. Adam Nagourney. A bunch of them. I don't know what they think they're doing. Write the facts and leave the conjecture to the editorial page.

Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 04:00 AM by Cali_Democrat
If he didn't travel to the Middle East, the Corporate Mediawhores and GOP would call him a foreign policy light weight.

When he does travel to Europe and the Middle East, he is an arrogant and presumptuous candidate.

Honestly, who gives a shit. Either way Obama will be slammed.

Instead of being pleasantly surprised at OBAMAS STUNNING FOREIGN ROAD TRIP SUCCESS, they nit pick at small shit...not even realizing how they reveal themselves as nekkid....as a new born ....

That the man has overcome the odds while the Pubs still showing disrespect and hostility....will make victory that much sweeter.

Sooner or later, they will yield to the will of the people...sooner or later, they must come to the Dem side of things...it is our turn now,,,the Pubs have succeeded in destroying their Party to this present low level...mostly by sucking bush for these 7 years. Pure Hubris and arrogance describes their leadership....

Many of the "arrogant" things Obama was accused of doing were the exact same things McCain has done. I guess it's okay if McSame acts presidential and even uses the title "President McCain" in one of his ads, but Obama better not even say the odds of him winning are good at a fundraisers or else he's acting upp..er, arrogant.

8. It's the Post!
Think this is bad- if you can suffer to read that tabloid trash, have a look at Richard Cohen's piece.

Bottom line is that the Post lost all its credibility long ago. Katherine Graham must roll over in her grave at least once week, given what Donald's done to her once respected paper.

look at this piece in the WP today. This is extremely important. The GOP wins elections because the media generally doesn't do this.

We're talking about a paper whose editorial board contradicts facts published by its own reporters!

Then has its ombudsman turn around and defend the editors for lying!

See: http://mediamatters.org/items/200604170001

These folks can barely even publish a science article without slanting the copy (and/or resorting to "some say" and anonymous "sources").

:puke: on the media - they're all a bunch of whores - they sensationalize for the sake of ratings, and what gets the most attention? Controversy.

Most of the "news" I have read lately concerning Obama belongs on the Op-ed page.

I forgot about this Wonkette clip of Dana Millbank at a bar from a little while ago. The Huffington Post just posted it too.....He's a little drizzunk I think.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/30/iwashington-posti-fans-ou_n_115861.html

"And speaking of arrogance, really - Milbank is a fine one to be speaking on the subject. Via Wonkette, we present to you this video of a slurring Milbank, pompously declaring, "I will not read blogs, I'm sorry...If something is important enough, it will be brought to my attention."

(video clip)

Which is just the sort of toxic nonsense you get from the high-toned clique of anointed political reporters these days, I'm afraid. Naturally, the difference between Milbank and the blogs he won't read (he's sorry!), is that Milbank is wrong.

And that's not all he gets wrong. Over the course of the article, Milbank - desperately panting - attempts to make the case that foreign travels, adherence to Capitol Hill protocol, Secret Service protection, and meeting with Cabinet officials and foreign dignitaries are all signs of "pride" and "presumptuousness," when in reality, these are the simple, entirely protean tasks that any Presidential candidate performs. McCain has done all of those things. Milbank would have a case were he to bring up the stupid "Presidential seal" the Obama campaign briefly deployed before realizing how asinine a gesture it was (and, as Ben Smith points out, the McCain campaign is no stranger to similarly inane gestures), but Milbank would rather fill his readers' heads with misleading pastry where commonplace activities take on some sort of diabolical dimension.

Worse yet, is this part of the case Milbank builds against Obama:

"The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder reported last week that Obama has directed his staff to begin planning for his transition to the White House, causing Republicans to howl about premature drape measuring."
But, once again, planning for the transition in July is not something Obama is doing out of presumptuousness, he's doing it because that is what presidential nominees are supposed to do. In the summer of 2000, both George W. Bush and Al Gore did the exact same thing.

The Washington Post is located at 1150 15th Street, NW in Washington, DC, for all those interested in hand-delivering the news to Milbank, so that important things are brought to his precious and presumptuous attention.

31. The WashPost is basically a reunion of folks that wrote for Harvard Crimson.
Hiring a Yalie is the WP's version of "diversity."

He said last December that the press "will have knives out for Hillary Clinton," and he was right. Now, they've got them out for Obama. McCain gets an easy ride because these men who didn't serve in the military - like Russert and Matthews - can't possibly bring themselves to criticize someone who did, no matter how unqualified for the presidency.
