2,000 line up for tickets to Obama event in Rolla

07/30/2008

Associated Press

Not all of the 2,000 people who lined up for tickets in 90-degree heat will get to see Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's second stop of the day in Missouri.

Phelps County Democrats President Janet McKean estimated that 600 people were told Tuesday that tickets had run out for Obama's town hall meeting in Rolla Wednesday. The Illinois senator is scheduled to arrive at Missouri S&T's Student Recreation Center at 3 p.m.

Obama will travel to Rolla from Springfield after a 10 a.m. town hall meeting at Glendale High School. His final scheduled stop in Missouri is in Union, where party officials say 200 people received tickets for a speech by the candidate, and another 200 were turned away.

1. I'm hoping a large amount of those tiks were not scooped up
by repubs so not as many would show. I read on FR that they thought this would be a good idea and I don't trust them....

4. He's probably ahead of them...
...I can't imagine them getting away with that, I think tickets are individually distributed, not in bundles.

Unless 100s of freepers stood in line.

Now, that would be a sight to see!

3. Obama is really good about taking 1/2 hour or so
to address the overflow crowds who can't get in to see him.
