VP's and the Olympics-timing is everything
The Olympics are going to suck ALL of the air out of the room from a news stand point. So we will probably see both VP picks within the next week.

Don't forget that the Olympics -with Congress taking off for August (slow news month normally) -is going to make the VP decisions TIMING ever so important. The Olympics run from the 8th until the 24th. THEN the Dems convention starts the next day (August 25-28) and the Republicans take their wide stance in Minneapolis starting that following Friday (Sept. 1-4).

Something to keep in mind.

1. Honestly, I hardly ever pay attention to the Olympics, especially towards
the end--I'm willing to bet that an announcement a couple days before the closing ceremonies would get plenty of attention, even with the competition from whatever events are going on.

2. Hard to say
They are probably feeling this out. I would doubt that they would announce it AT the convention but hey, who am I to tell team Obama what they should do (they are pitching an almost perfect game so far) ?

You may not pay that much attention but a lot of people do and this is going to be the first Olympics offered on-line and with increases both in technology to see it and speed upgrades for a large part of the population to view it. Just saying.

3. My guess is that by the last few days, people will be "Olympicked out"
and ready for a big news story, unless something crazy happens.

5. I agree.
I was keeping an eye on the olympic schedule. If the Olympics run from the 8-24th, and the convention starts on the 25th, then Obama will pick next week.

8. No they're not.
I don't watch the Olympics, but I watch politics. Others watch the Olympics and not politics and others watch both.

I don't think it will make one bit of difference. The two aren't all that related.

People - and news rooms - can and do multitask and those who are that interested in politics will be able to watch track and the VP choices.
