It's time for Harry Reid to stop compromising. |
|
I'm sick of hearing that this or that can't be done because it can't get 60 votes in the Senate. Send the bills to George anyways, and force him to veto them, then force the Republicans to decide not to over-ride. If the Republicans want to filibuster, let them filibuster. It's the only way to make it absolutely clear that it's the Republicans holding things up. People are too busy to do the research to find out how a bill is watered down for passage, but they understand what a veto is.
AS it is, it's fair to ask whether Reid is using the "we need 60 votes" excuse to cover for some senators who are Dinos!
We need a Senate that will back Obama's reforms.

2. Perhaps I'm not fully informed |

but I thought they need 60 votes to close debate so that they can then vote on the bill. If the Republicans won't let them close debate the bill can't move forward.

3. The legislative process gets on the news when there's sand in the |

gears. I say let the Republicans hold up the bills so people see what is going on.

4. The Republicans have been obstructing |
|
the oil speculation/close enron loophole bill, the alternative energy tax credit renewal, and the help with winter heating bill, and except for a couple of NPR segments I don't recall much coverage of this. It seems to me the Dems should be publicizing the Repubs obstruction every time they open their mouth.

6. I saw Pelosi on the Daily Show the other night. My impression is that |
|
she has had it up to HERE with both Reid and the Republicans, but that she feels it necessary to work with Reid. If she knew that it would be successful, I think she'd support someone else as Majority Leader. The problem is that there are Democrats and Dinos in the Senate. There are probably some back benchers who will change parties if the other Democrats start making progress.
