Obama campaign response to McBlunder's current false ad: "Oops! He did it again."
July 30, 2008

Obama responds to 'Celeb' ad, quoting Britney

Obama's camp is content for now to attack McCain for attacking, in an email from spokesman Tommy Vietor.

On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Senator McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another. Or, as some might say, ‘Oops! He did it again.’

Our dependence on foreign oil is one of the greatest challenges we face. In this election the American people have a real choice -- between Obama’s plan to provide tax rebates to American families while creating a renewable energy economy in America that frees us from our dependence on foreign oil, and Senator McCain’s plan to continue the same failed energy policies by handing out nearly $4 billion in tax breaks to oil companies while investing almost nothing in the new energy sources that represent our future.

3. I think you and I see what's happening here. Everyone needs to wake up
and realize that Obama is going to die a death of a thousand cuts if his campaign allows the GOP to define him and lie unchallenged.

4. threre saving their money

ads before the convention are just a waste of money.

McCain has to spend the money before the convention because its Primary money and he cannot keep it after the convention.

They are trying to get him to spend money now so he won't have it later and the campaign isn't falling for it.

5. Well, in regard to not blowing money on ad buys, that might make sense--
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 12:22 PM by wienerdoggie
but what happens if these definitions and lies stick before Obama can counter them? He needs some heavy-duty, CREDIBLE surrogates out there making some noise for him, he needs talking points and attacks disseminated DAILY against McCain--they can't just wait for the new incoming GOP attack of the day, and then respond with a press release that no one will read. That's a recipe for failure. So is counting on the media to be a fair referee and get the truth out. Dems think, "who would believe this bullshit?", but the problem is, PEOPLE DO believe it--they love to believe negative stuff about candidates. It's human nature.

9. I think that the number of people paying attention to this is extremely small

we are a very small subset of the population who even knows, for example, Andrew McCain and the Silver State Bancorop is.

Advertising only works when it is repeated and seen multiple times in a short period of time.

Right now people are not focusing on the issue.

Obama has bought $ 5 million for the Olympics and advertising experts will say that is the kind of ad buy that actually can have an impact where you get the same message and repeat it over and over again.

8. you are totally wrong. Saving money for AFTER he's been defined is insane. It's what Kerry did
Saving money until it's too late?

Saving money when Obama is supposed to have raised record amounts?

THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT WAS TO HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR NOW IN AUGUST AND BEFORE THE ELECTION

15. i agree with your assessment. obama can wait until after
the conventions and then pile on . . . and he'll still have money to do so. the spokespeople have been doing a good job answering this crap.

6. Wow, a paragraph is way too long.
He should have just said: McCain is an idiot and a liar.

It's accurate and concise.

Maybe that could be his next ad. In fact, that should be Obama's response to every distortion and attack ad from now until the election.

Right?

11. I sense sarcasm--OK. Yes, I DO think the campaign (or a 527) should respond
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 12:28 PM by wienerdoggie
with an ad that basically calls McCain a liar. And then one about his biggest flip-flops. And then I think they should do one that calls McCain's mental acuity or intelligence into question (all of his slipups and gaffes). And then I think they should do one that calls his temperament into question, complete with quotes from fellow GOP Senators. And so on, and so forth. It's clear they are going to attack Obama's character, daily, from now until November. McCain's character shouldn't be allowed to stand unchallenged.

10. Doesn't even have to be a real ad!!!!!!!!
Just do a funny website only ad that uses "angry McCain" and "oooppps he did it again". It could be a funny attack ad that the cable shows would play over and over for free. I'm amazed that Dems just sit back and let this crap take hold. This stuffs WORKS!!! The reps have perfected it. When is the last time you saw that pic of McCain hugging W?????? If the roles were reversed the reps would have that pic taped every refrigerator in the US. This is starting to look like 2000 & 2004 all over again... as far as campaign attack response goes. Just amazing!!!! This was the only reason I was an initial Hillary backer... I knew she'd at least stand toe to toe with these clowns and slug it out....... LETS GO DEM RESPONSE MACHINE... VERY WEAK SO FAR!!!!!!

16. "Just do a funny website only ad ..." Really?
Yesterday, I saw post stating that Obama should call McCain out on his lie:

You think the media is going to go to Obama's site or You Tube (the way they did with McCain's ad) and run a piece repeatedly on Obama calling McCain's clain a lie?

Have they done that?

7. WOW! An EMAIL. That'll fix McCain. Obama's camp is fucking pathetic. And the analogy to boxing
doesn't work. A boxing match involves FAIR referees and judges. The Mediawhore are totally in the tank for McCain.
