Poll question: Do you watch Cable news
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 02:00 PM by chimpsrsmarter
i stopped watching the day Bush landed on the USS Lincoln and Christ Matthews was having a circle jerk with some other rw idiots about how manly they thought he was. Since that day i have relied on 2 daily newspapers, the LBN forum, PBS on Friday nights and BBC America.

1. We watch mostly MSNBC, but check in on CNN a few minutes
here and there. But lately, every time we go to CNN, they are Obama-bashing, so I turn the station when my stomach churns.

4. I had to check the Olbermann option but I also try to catch Jack
Cafferty. It's hard though because then I have to listen to that idiot Blitzer until Jack comes on and most days I just can't stand to do it.

6. Don't watch any but would watch MSNBC if I had it
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 02:06 PM by Jersey Devil
Verizon Fios is my TV/IP/Phone provider and in the northern NJ area (and most of NYC) they do not carry MSNBC due to an exclusive (and unusual) contractual arrangement that provides Cablevision with exclusive broadcast rights for MSNBC in this area.

I have no interest in CNN or Fox and rarely watch BBC News.

7. I watch MSNBC for Keith and Rachel Maddow.
The rest of them can go take a hike.

I can't stand slobber mouth Matthews, who asks his guests a question, then won't shut the hell up so they can answer it! Or, he interrupts them before they can finish a sentence. He must like hearing himself talk.

Can't stand Tucker "I'm a bow tie dork" Carlson, Joe "don't ask me about my dead intern" Scarborough, or the rest of the lot. If Keith weren't on MSNBC, that network would never be viewed in my house.

8. When I do watch: KO, Abrams, BBC news, NewsNight, TDS, CR. I keep meaning to watch Moyers
but he's not cable so doesn't count in this discussion I guess. Oh, I also watch DemocracyNow sometimes.

9. I watch Headline News in the morning
but that's about it. Robin Meade is a damned good anchor IMO with that format. I really liked the look of outright disgust on her face last year when they made her talk with glenn beck for a preview of beckies little hate fest.

14. I'm similarly perplexed by half of what I read...
...and I watch some of the damn shows!

As I type, on CNN, "Is Barack Obama now the biggest celebrity in the world?"

You're not missing much, chimpsrsmarter.

If I miss it on TV, I have to go to their website to know what all the hullabaloo is (if I care enough).

16. No cable at all.
I watch the Newshour most nights and read various things online, but I can't stand any of the cable shows, news or otherwise, even if it's someone I like. Cable news is horrible, style and personality over substance.

The only thing that I miss not having cable is the NHL and Inside The Actor's Studio.

19. I take a peek at all of them
I like to keep them on for background noise as well as for watching the News.

CNN ran a pretty interesting piece on Ted Stevens today.

22. No "other" choice?
I watch on line because I don't have a TV, but the only ones I usually watch anyway are:
(1) MSNBC for Olbermann and election coverage;
(2) the Comedy Channel for Stewart/Colbert (qualified as news commentary in IMHO);
(3) and occasionally CSPAN and CNN, if there's something in particular going on.

23. CNN and MSNBC. I don't care about the "truth"..
I care what the media narrative is at the moment. What we know to be true doesn't matter. What's talked about on DU, Kos, and HuffPo don't matter. It's what the MSM reports on that really influences most voters.
