1. Absolutely. The interview they showed on MSNBC today screamed - not the VP. |

I could be wrong but I'm willing to bet money it won't be Kaine.

3. I was thinking it might be a great fake, myself. |

Alternatively, all the talking heads have talked to each other and fed this frenzy. If A and B say it, it must be true and I better say it too or people will think I don't have any sources!
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Obama brings in a prominent non-politician. Not Warren Buffet or Marion Wright Edelman, but someone of that caliber. What if he picked a smart person that's a real policy wonk on health care reform?

I think Obama is making a HUGE mistake in going around on interviews implying that he wants someone from outside Washington, because he is--in effect--eliminating his two best VP prospects: Joe Biden and Evan Bayh, who are DC insiders.
So he headfakes a really awful candidate like Tim Kaine in the media, so people will breathe a sigh of relief when he announces a better candidate like Biden, Bayh, or Hillary.

5. I swear, ANY imbecility this campaign slobbers on with will be met with claims of its sheer genius |
|
It's been like this since the beginning and it's just getting ridiculous.
Obama could convert to Islam and engage in non-consensual sex with a male goat while burning the flag on the Capitol steps and some zealot here would perk up with chipper drivel about this being a move of pure tactical brilliance. Such is faith and hope, I guess: the willing suspension of mere, base-level sense.
Maybe the Obama campaign is just continuing on with its ultrasafe sucking up to the blockheaded unswervatives with a Kaine possibility. Maybe the campaign really DOES want much more religion in politics and it's NOT just a tactical deception to sucker the faithful before pulling the prayer rug out from under them.
The elaborate fancy-footwork claimed to justify lame-assed decisions would impress Fred Astaire.
