I could be totally wrong and I don't have a clue who the VP pick will be but I think the Obama plan for the VP pick is next week. The olympics are in two weeks and it will give Obama a chance to control the news cycle the week before the olympics. Announce on Friday a decision has been made and will be announced Monday. Talking heads spend all weekend and the Sunday shows speculating. Announce the decision late in the day Monday. Allow a one day break for the reactions and analysis, than on Wednesday do a joint appearence in the news hour introducing the VP nominee.
If McCain announces afterwards its a me-too and he only has Thursday and Friday to butt in.
