13. Fantastic - now how many times will the damn MSM run this one for free?
Glad to see the Obama campaign is tired of the crap coming out of the McCain campaign. Glad to see we have a campaign that fights back quickly.

And this ad still is classy and takes the high road. Doesn't look childish like the stupid McCain ads.

26. They have played it once already
and then discussed whether he should have put it out. Now the discussion is on whether the presumtive charge against Obama is on point. Why are they not discussing whether mccain is wrong to act like he is already president? Why don't they discuss if the media is wrong for covering up all of mccain's mistakes/lies?

I am now screaming inside because I cannot literaly scream. Ulcers are forming as I type because of the anger I am holding in. :P

34. Rachel mentioned all the times McCain has spoken about his FIRST TERM
as president, what he'll do WHEN he becomes president, and they ignored her, going right back to the PRESCRIBED NARRATIVE!

whence do these narratives originate? amazingly, CNN was going with the EXACT SAME meme.

hmmmmmm

30. I don't, for the life of me ...
understand why they don't just run an add with three images ...

1) The Bush/McCain hug, where McCain is holding his head on Bush's shoulder with a peaceful grin and Bush sneering at him ...

2) The picture of Bush with his arm around McCain waving ...

3) The recent picture of McCain in a golf cart with Poppy, with the sign "hands off, for 41" and Poppy wearing a turtleneck ...

No words, no nothing ... Just those three pictures ... It would not even be an "attack" ad, but if they did NOTHING other than run that add 100 times a day from now until the election, BO would win, and it might not be close ...

I do NOT for the life of me understand why they don't use those pictures like that ...

10. That's excellent.
McCain is the guy who loses his temper, gets red in the face and becomes a screaming lunatic when he's losing an argument. Obama is the guy who stays cool, calm and collected and says things like "Calm down, John". As long as Obama does this, he wins every argument.

29. pat buchanan doesn't like it,
so it must be good. ;)

He said that the mccain ads were ineffective and by Obama answering back he was giving the mccain ads credence. Someone, I don't remember if it was David Gregary or Rachel, said that the mccain ad wasn't for people like them, but for people without college educations who don't pay attention to politics except for ads like this.

or according to 'Green Day'

Everybody loves a joke
But no one likes a fool
And you're always cracking the same old lines again
You're well rehearsed on every verse
And that was stated clear
But no one understands your verity

This sounds like buchanan and mccain.

Edited to add the name of the song quoted is "Jack Ass"

20. Okay Ad. Would have liked more detail about WHY McCain's statements are lies
not just that they are. That way, the viewers can't rationalize it as quotes from "left wing papers". BUT I am thrilled he is already sending out ads to counter McCain.

Still, over all, I hope we are able to stay positive in this campaign :)... Tough and honest, but positive.

That's a dukakis in the tank moment if I've ever seen it. However, I like that Obama made his point then moved on to his own policies. That's exactly why his Op Ed was accepted at the NYT and McCain's wasn't.

31. Not a very effective Ad
As comforting as it is to see Obama fighting back, I don't think the ad itself is that effective. First, if you haven't seen the McCain ad/ads to which it is a response, then it just leaves you wondering exactly what charges by McCain Obama is responding to. Even if you have seen the ad/ads it doesn't specifically rebut those charges, it just says that some in the media say that the charges are false.

I suppose the subtext of the ad is that John McCain is both old and old style, while Obama is something new and a different. But that message is already out there and lots of people buy into it. Others don't. I can see how this ad reassures those who buy into Obama's message about his willingness to throw a counterpunch. But I don't see how it moves those who are sceptical or on the fence.

Just my two cents.

32. Agreed Obama needs to hit back much harder
all they have to do is run an add over and over linking McCain to rising gas, food prices, and the policies of the current administration. Put the fear in the public. McCain = Bush, McCain = Economic despair McCain = endless war. Fear works!

I caught CNN and the commentators, even the woman from the Washington Times, praised Obama's response ad. Someone said Obama is the one that comes across as mature and experienced when you consider the two ads together.

One person describing it as childish---and, come to think of it, McCain himself says a lot of immature nonsense (Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran; and his other crack about killing Iranians). And with his jealous attacks on Obama, he comes across as a real cry-baby.
