Is Tim Pawlenty popular in Minnesota? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 05:50 PM by BlueStater
It's not as though I really care who McLame picks as his running mate but I keep hearing Pawlenty being mentioned above most names. What the hell is so great about this guy? Wasn't he barely re-elected against a weak opponent?

2. McCain would have a hard time with Pawlenty. Pawlenty just indicated that |
|
he would never sign a "no tax increase" pledge again. But if the "Straight Talk Express" can do a 180, I suppose Pawlenty could just get on board.
Personally, Pawlenty gets "nice guy" points from the public. But he's denied Minnesota's needs in transportation and education. Hard to believe he's the son of a union man.

3. Elected against a weak opponent |
|
his support is an inch deep. What he has done is stick to a stupid no new taxes pledge so in certain circles he get bonus points for being a strict fiscal conservative. Of course, in other ways he has not been conservative at all.
Most of us hate him. His policies and his selfish stance on taxes and fees have helped turn Minnesota from a state that ranked in the top 10 of most livability standards to state that ranks in the teens and 20's.

4. He was unable to 'deliver ' for McCain in the Repub MN caucus. |
|
(Romney won) and will be unable to 'deliver' the state. Survey USA tested the ticket and found Pawlenty doesn't help McCain in MN. He won his last election by less than 1%. He's the only state-wide Republican officeholder left in MN (outside of US senator Norm Coleman).
He's a rightwinger and a tool of the Taxpayers League but he doesn't arouse visceral feelings in his oppponents. I don't think people hate him. They just don't like his politics.

5. He barely won re-election against a weak opponent. No. |
|
McCain is more of an idiot than I thought if he picks Pawlenty.
