Obama "celebrity" gaining traction?
I swear, this is getting old...John McCain old.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080731/pl_politico/12205

~snip~

And the snickers about Obama’s perceived smugness may have a very real political impact as McCain's camp launched its most forceful effort yet to define him negatively. It released a TV ad Wednesday describing Obama as the “biggest celebrity in the world,” comparable to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, stars who are famous for attitude rather than accomplishments.

The harsher treatment from comedians and columnists — coupled with the shift by McCain from attacking on policy to character issues — underscores the fine line that Obama is walking between confident and cocky. Once at pains to present himself as presidential, Obama now faces criticism for doing it too well.

1. I love how the media parrots just pick up the GOP talking points and
run with them, as if there's some merit that must be examined. "Could it be TRUE?? Do they have a POINT? Let's analyze Obama's presumptuousness and arrogance."

7. and then they play the candidates ads (mostly the GOP ads) over and over
for them. Who needs money to run ads anymore when the M$M will grab them and play them non-stop, 24 hours a day for free?

To analyze them, ha. One of the only people that appears on any of those shows anymore that has any credibility is Rachel Maddow.

2. So now, they cite HuffPo, Letterman and Stewart. Have they checked to see what those sources said
about McCain?? It's *much* worse.

3. I love this "celebrity" ad
It shows the hundreds of thousands of people watching Obama speak in Berlin and closes with Obama smiling ear to ear.

They can play this one all they want IMO.

yeah, seriously
the whole, "it's bad that he's so popular" meme is confusing, to say the least.

it's also interesting how in the past couple of negatives mccain did the approval acknowledgment at the end.

5. Dunno - The Idea Of John McCain As Jan Brady Is Also Gaining Traction
For you younger folks born after the 1970s, here is the famous episode involving Jan Brady complaining about the attention paid to her popular, prettier sister:

9. Definitely a backfire. A great ad for Obama. Give us more of these!
People give less and less weight to the negative messages included in such ads in the text and voiceovers.

We're increasingly video/visual oriented consumers and all I saw was crowds and cheering and I thought, "WOW"!

Thanks John!
