So who do you think won the debate? |
|
Dean seemed to take alot of flak over records and his misspeaks but I don't think he will lose much support.

7. Attempt to get Dean fails. |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 06:39 PM by heidler
Lieberman's rubber lips melted. Dean caught Kucinich inconsistency about getting out of Iraq now. The fact is DK wants to turn it over to the UN. I haven't seen any indication that the UN would take it over. Neither DK or Dean want to just pack up and leave. Kerry bitched about Dean with incoherent babble. Carol was good.

will get the biggest push. Dean won't lose support,he also will not gain any.
I think Kerry did as well as Dean or Gephardt. He made some points that resonated well with the crowd. His, and Gephardt's mistakes were asking a question of Dean that was not policy oriented.

At times, I felt cheered by most of the candidates. I didn't like Lieberman's attacks, especially regarding Dean's records. (Dean's solution to the problem seems best; why can't Lieberman see that?)
So, I can't say who won, but Lieberman lost.

6. Dean, Then Edwards, and Kucinich. |
|
Everybody did well, it was a good debate. Gep didn't come across as tough as he usually does. Carol was good, but ignored, Kerry was very good, and clear with his answers. Holy Joe was pretty good too. It was a very good debate.

9. these debates have become useless |
|
What is the point? What use are they for Democrats?
The only possible use is for all of the candidates to differentiate themselves from George W. Bush.
Attacking each other by parsing words is counter productive. I think they're doing Dems more harm than good.

I thought Dean and Edwards performed better than usual. Kudos to them.

Wesley Clark was able to spend his time productively. All others were fighting for stage time while Clark had the rest of the media to himself.

23. I actually think Clark was slightly hurt by not being there.... |
|
In the sense that Dean clearly won.
That said, the miserable performances of Kerry and Lieberman may force them out--thus opeing some room for clark to catch some of their erstwhile supporters.

he came in ahead and went out ahead, so he's the winner. I didn't hear anything that will change the numbers.

14. The one who said > will you support the nominee... |
|
and brought the point home. ABBA
So when we have a nominee and we all vote dem, what will the Resident's numbers look like? Don't forget that Poppy was the clear, landslide winner as well. Now get out there, register voters and tell them why they need to vote. Millions of unemployed might like to weigh in. It's almost too easy.

20. Dean and Edwards came out ahead. |
|
Dean kept his cool in the face of the now-predicatble (and poorly recieved by the audience) attacks.
Edwards was impressive as he usually is, and did himself good by staying above the fray.
CMB did well and provided a calming and rational voice.
Gephardt could have been better, but did not stumble.
Dennis K. was charming, but probably didn't do himself any good.
Kerry and Lieberman were terrible, with Kerry mamanging to be the worst. His humorless and boring attacks on Dean are getting him nowhere.
Liberman was in the wrong party, as always.

22. The consensus is Dean and Edwards. |
|
Edwards was polished and presented himself as an outsider, while Dean, while savagely attacked from all sides, looked firm, and more importantly, presidential.

Dean did really badly. He should consider quitting so he won't have to debate Bush.

Sometimes the only way to win is to not play. He got a lot of seperate media attention by not being there.

27. with all these debates |
|
why not have single issue debates where there is actually a debate instead of canned slogans. These are stupid and useless, all the information can be found easier and clearer on the candidates web sites.
