Should Obama Even Debate This Guy?
I mean this is fucking insulting. And that's honest analysis. What else were those last two ads? How does Obama "respond" to Britney/Paris and Moses? They really are completely substance-free insults. So what would be the point of debating him? And isn't it sort of validating the asshole and this moronic "politics" for him to debate him?

1. Good god yes!!!
Can you think of anything that will cap McCain's self-destruction more thoroughly than being on the same stage with Obama?

Doesn't matter whether McCain is fit to lick dog shit off Obama's shoes -- America needs to see why the question "Is he ready to lead" is a resounding 'yes' for Obama and 'are you kidding me?' for McCain.

3. I think the main risk is the Gore/Bush phenomenon - remember the exasperated sighs?
I am not blaming Gore - it was an intellectual titan having to spend time with ...with...(looking for some analogy that doesn't create an insult of sort!). And then to have to listen to the pundits call Gore uppity, condescending, and then to hear the pundits call the debates ties, or close. So even then, 8 years ago, the MSM couldn't face up to reality and had to spin it.

And that is what I am most concerned about. That "average America" (and with the race element this year, there are going to be several average Americas) will turn away from Obama because he is black, or because he is smart, or because he is kicking the ass of a completely unfit so-called self-proclaimed and MSM annointed patriot.

I don't know how I would play it so that it doesn't get screwed by the public and the media - and perhaps there is no way to play it...what will be will be.

how anyone with an IQ over 20 could vote for the chimp. And look where we are...

19. Up until 2006 many of the people of this nation were blinded by
repug propaganda - you know, saint george vs evil liberal. In 2006 there was an awakening and with the economy hitting everyone hard it will wake even more up. They were looking at Kerry as that draft dodger even years after the fact. I have hope that it will be better now AND I have faith in Obama - he will recognize the dangers of arrogance and be the person that the people want.

24. 9/11 shook up a lot of people
and fucked with their ability to think straight for a long time.

my parents who were life long Dems bought into that shit and barely got their bearings back in time to vote against the chimp in 04.

But it took a lot longer for others to figure it out.

10. Yes.
And I believe Kerry mopped the floor with Herr Dumbass the second time around. But since Bush didn't saw a baby in half live on stage, someone decided he was better.

Sheesh.

12. BINGO
Obama was offered tenure at the University of Chicago College of Law (top 5 last I checked). He's Harvard Law Review. I think it's going to be tough for him not to seem like a snob. And I don't mean that he really will be like that, its just that if McCain's playing double AA intellectually, Obama is a 12 time All-Star in the pros.

14. One factor in our favor is that Bush -- at least then . . .
Had a modicum of charisma, which made Gore's "sighs" and his stepping into Bush's personal space more off-putting than they otherwise would have.

McCain, on the other hand is not very charismatic (I guess he can be, but I sure haven't seen any of it recently) -- he's cranky, clumsy, confused, and phony. Even if Obama spits in his face, it's just not going to have the same impact.

6. The short answer is: he doesn't.
He doesn't need to.

McCain is doing a fine job of committing political suicide completely on his own.

I mean, let's face it: it's not like he . . . or any other Republican running for any kind of office in the next 10 to 15 years for that matter . . . has even a handful of positive accomplishments to brag about.

This party is silly, dated and loaded with the biggest gaggle of criminal bullshit artists that make even the Reagan Mafia look saintly in comparison (some of them were leftovers from that crappy presidency) and the American public knows it.

Anything they try to trump their stupid party up with comes off as either a bad and empty talking point at best, an outright lie at worst.

So what's left for them to do?

Play on middle/poor/rural fear from the bottom of the deck and hope it works.

13. It really is silly
Or Sad, or pathetic. ...Y'know, David Brooks might just take McCain to task. I say this because for all I disagree with Brooks about, he's a smart guy. I'm sure he's embarrassed this passes for conservatism...wonder if he'll toe the party line?

17. I wouldn't be so sure about that according to some of michigans forums McCains ads are working
and bitching about how liberals and welfare queens getting free birth control are causing michigan to lose jobs. Their main ideal seems to be they are working and their health care plans don't cover BC so why should non workers get what they can't get. Then they go on long rants about abortion and how its all about taking responsibullty to not have sex if they can't get a job to take care of the kid. I have a lot of wtf moments, job loss is the Dems fault, no jobs to be had, yet the poor should get work instead of aid, and theres all kinds of jobs in other states but losing citizens from the state won't mean they will have to pay higher taxes because less people mean less tax dollars. Good god they put it down in writting and still can't see the shit they spew. Do these people even have a brain that allows them to do any more then eat shit breathe and repeat the latest talking points Fox propaganda puts out? Oh yeah btw their jobs are safe and even if they become unemployed they know it will only take them 24 hours to find a new job with the same pay so they will never be on government aid.

16. This is another reason I do not believe
McCain is actually running for president. Everything he does is so far over the top it is unreal. There is nothing dignified about him. When he speaks he says nothing. He makes gaffe after gaffe. It is all theater. I can't get it out of my head that he is merely a stand-in for someone else. Is he just the commercial before the main event? Something is not right. Even the Republicans would not back someone of his caliber. My tin foil hat is tight--maybe too tight.

Obama's ability to stay cool will rile McCain badly & he'll look like the angry old codger he is in front of all of America.
