Think of all the older folks in Florida that know what the GI Bill meant to the vets after WWII. If Obama wins Florida he wins the election.

Think of the large presence of military bases in Virginia. Virginia is a pickup state.

Think of the white-collar union workers that have families who have lived in MI and OH since long before WWII. If Obama wins OH and MI he wins the election.

How many people even know that McCain opposed the GI Bill, and that Obama supported it?

This is one of those positions that will stick with people (especially veterans).

And, even if certain veterans won't vote for a Democrat, it might be enough to keep them from voting for McCain.
