Do you think Obama would have gone on vacation if he didn't have VP
That was already chosen? Do you think he would have just left his campaign to figure it out?

I really think the pick has been made, the person has agreed and that's the end of it. I don't think he's still deciding I think it's already been decided and was decided on before he left. What do you think?

1. I can imagine taking time to think things over by himself.

2. I think it's been decided, as well.
And he'll announce that choice at his choosing. As is his right.

3. Completely, completely agree. The VP choice needs time to write a speech.
And that speech has to be combed over by someone in the campaign.

The choice was made at least a week ago.

But they are playing out the theater of it all.

4. I agree....
I love the drama of them keeping the suspense going...
anticipation...sometimes much sweeter than climax...

6. I agree. Obama's decided and the VP has accepted.
But the O-team have done their best to create speculation and confusion among the pundits.

9. Damn it! I didn't get my text message, they promised the MOMENT he decided!
The wait is killing me.

Hoping for Clark -- ANYONE else will be a letdown now.

12. To create interest, capture attention, to appease various factions of the party
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 02:55 PM by DFLforever
and incidentally to show people paying attention how little some of these pundits know.

7. agreed.
the choice was made before Obama went to Hawaii.

That week away gave the vp a chance to acclimatize him/herself (spotlight and normal dissection has been mostly away from Obama what with his vacation and the olympics and all) and his/her family to the idea - and the announcement will be made mid next week.

you heard it here 581st.!

11. But what does it matter?
He ain't talking, and surely won't until after his vacation. When the word comes down, will we care for how long he'd had his mind made up prior to the announcement?

18. I don't think he's really on vacation.
I mean, yes, he's off the campaign trail, not making appearances, spending time with family - and he should do that to refresh himself.

But I'm quite sure he's still spending a good amount of time each day working, talking with his staff, strategizing and putting plans into place.
