For that reason he is a great pick. Biden will be going after McCain hard and they will have to attack Biden while Obama is off to the side looking like a grown up. I kind of thought Biden might get the nod for that reason.

By picking Biden, I think they are signaling that they are about to ramp things up, turn the tables and go after McCain hard.
