They're starting already!! (Ron Fournier)
"Analysis: Biden pick shows lack of confidence"

By RON FOURNIER, Associated Press Writer Sat Aug 23, 5:02 AM ET

DENVER - The candidate of change went with the status quo.

In picking Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, Barack Obama sought to shore up his weakness — inexperience in office and on foreign policy — rather than underscore his strength as a new-generation candidate defying political conventions.

(snip)

The picks say something profound about Obama: For all his self-confidence, the 47-year-old Illinois senator worried that he couldn't beat Republican John McCain without help from a seasoned politician willing to attack. The Biden selection is the next logistical step in an Obama campaign that has become more negative — a strategic decision that may be necessary but threatens to run counter to his image.

Unbelievable. If Obama had chosen someone without decades of experience, they'd have slammed him for that, too.

The retort: Now we have "change" AND "experience." So there ya go!

5. Also crappy that Yahoo News puts TWO "analysis" pieces in with AP's news
Check it out: http://news.yahoo.com/

Scroll to "Politics," and there are only five links for each wire/outlet on this page. TWO of the AP slots are taken up with "analysis" -- "Is Obama ready for world's toughest job?" and "Biden pick shows lack of confidence."

2. Ron Fournier deserves to be thrown through a woodchipper. He abuses a position of trust
to push a completely biased right-wing agenda.

Emailing Karl Rove

In a U.S. House of Representatives committee report investigating the White House's media management efforts over the death from friendly fire of Army Ranger Pat Tillman and the rescue from an Iraqi hospital of Private Jessica Lynch noted that journalists, including Fournier, had made suggestions on how to manage the story. The draft report stated that:

Karl Rove exchanged emails about Pat Tillman with Associated Press reporter Ron Fournier, under the subject line "HE-R-O." In response to Mr. Fournier’s e-mail, Mr. Rove asked, "How does our country continue to produce men and women like this," to which Mr. Fournier replied, "The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world. But only the great and free countries allow them to flourish. Keep up the fight."<7>

Gawker noted that "Fournier isn't trying to explain how telling the White House's main political adviser to "keep up the fight" keeps his journalism unbiased. Instead he said he's kind of sorry, even though he obviously isn't, at all" in his response which was reported in an AP story.<8> Fournier was cited as stating:

"I was an AP political reporter at the time of the 2004 e-mail exchange, and was interacting with a source, a top aide to the president, in the course of following an important and compelling story. I regret the breezy nature of the correspondence."<1>

Fournier did not respond to a request from Mother Jones for a comment.<9>

9. The Yahoo stories...
were the first thing I saw when I checked my email this morning...
and my heart sorta sank...
"Analysis: Why Biden for VP?"
"What Obama's VP pick reveals about the campaign."
"Analysis: Obama's pick shows lack of confidence."
"Biden speaks - and speaks - his own mind."
"Analysis: Is Obama ready for the world's toughest job?"
"A statesman known for his slips of tongue."

I'm going...WTF...I went to bed and coverage seemed positive...
A few hours later...they are on the attack.

Should not be surprised nor concerned, I suppose.
It just hit me wrong first thing out of bed...

15. Not only does..
it mention a lack of "confidence," but it also manages to get in jabs on Obama for going negative. Guess the AP is scared, too?

I wait with baited breath for the critical analysis of McCain's pick - not. It will be something like "Romney: pick shows even MORE experience" - even though it would be a status-quo pick.
