Why are the MSNBC hosts getting so pissy at each other? |
|
Tweety Bird Matthews just snapped at Olbermann (I can't figure out why).
There was a blowup this morning between Scarborough and David Schuster.
Pat Buchanan and Rachael Maddow just mixed it up, and they look exasperated with each other.

That was a nice little moment they had there. It's probably because they've been running their coverage from the middle of a mob.

It always took me nearly a week to get totally acclimated to Denver's altitude, longer if I went to Georgetown or Conifer.
Tweety is suffering from oxygen deprivation. I wonder if he smokes.

Matthews was really letting loose on the Clinton tactics. I think his earpiece was telling him to wrap up. I was really amazed, and impressd, when he insisted on finishing his thought.

11. Yeah, I caught that little bit between Tweety and KO ... |
|
Maybe they're all staying in the same suite at the hotel (cost cutting at GEM$NBC?). Or they learned from Tweety's "Zell Miller moment" last time that controversy equals press, ratings, internet talk, etc. ... ???
OR MAYBE IT'S THE ALTITUDE! (I'm not saying that completely as a joke -- if alcohol affects you more in that elevation, then maybe they've all had too much to drink ... or too little, fearing they'd get too tipsy on camera, and now are fighting instead.)

I loved seeing Chris show his fighting style. It was reminiscent of Chris putting that Texas Repub in his place over the issue of what "appeasement" is. Matthews knows history, knows politics, and knows the blue-collar wide base of the party. Olbermann is nothing more than snarky remarks.

24. They're working VERY long hours and are very tired and traveled recently. |
|
Even the old pro Andrea Mitchell called in sick for the earlier part of the day.
Imagine this: They all flew in, which is very tiring. Then almost immediately started broadcasting from teh convention even before it started. For the broadcast to start at a certain time, the crew and "cast" have to get there long before that time and go into makeup, and sit around and wait for camera setup and such. Then they're there all day....until about 2:00a.m. (although they work in shifts).
When you work those kinds of hours, you tend to get irritable and not quite yourself.

34. I don't know. I wasn't watching them. But I get it. You don't like Tweety 'cause he fussed at |
|
little Keith. Is that it?
It was at least interesting. Tweety has a loud, in your face persona. I'm sure when he gets tired and overworked, he gets more so. If someone is solemn and laid back and quiet, I'm sure that person would tend to get quieter, the more tired he is.
Everyone's different. I didn't hear what Keith said to him. But Tweety is the one with seniority of the two. If KO insulted what Tweety had just said, Tweety had to say something back. He couldn't let it go. And he didn't call him a name or anything. It was just enough "more so" that it caught my attention from the magazine I was reading.
I didn't hear the spat with Morning Joe this morning, but that is Joe's personality. He has been rude and overbearing and trashy to everyone who staffs his show (I usu. watch his show in the mornings)...if they disagree with him. He'll actually come out and say, "IT'S MY SHOW."

I think Rep. Hoyer was waiting for his interview to begin and the producers wanted Matthews to wrap it but he wanted to finish his monologe. Then Keith (knowing Hoyer had been waiting for a while) was trying to lighten the mood and kind of explain to Hoyer why he had to wait so long and Matthews thought Olbermann was making fun of his speech and didn't take what he had said seriously. Matthews took Keith's joke a little too seriously.

35. I separate the two sets of clashing hosts |
|
Scab & Schuster clash is because Scab loathes intellectuals who stand up for the truth. Scab has also had a notorious fit aimed at Rachel Maddow. Scab is unworthy of a political talk show, and I have come to the conclusion that msnbc's decision to hire Scab for that time slot was retaliation against those of us whom campaigned to get Imus (another ass) fired.
I really like and admire Olbermann and have similar feelings for Matthews. Both men are flawed, but both have done great things to promote truth in an atmosphere of media intimidation that they have operated under. I believe that their squabbles have more to do with office politics/alpha dog stuff--I really wish that they could find a peace between them.
