The wingers are going to think that ALL Vietnam vets were POWs. At least, the good ones.

1. I'm looking forward to a big Cirque du Soleil kind of show. With a giant sparkly gold bamboo cage
as the centerpiece, and the VietCong dancer/gymnasts flying around on wires.

McCain will appear, as if by magic, in the cage, to give his keynote speech.

Shit if they'd entertain me like this, I'd actually consider voting for the guy. But I know he'll disappoint.

6. Let me say again
I've got tears running down my face from laughing so hard. I just imagine McCain with a Rambo style bandana tied around his head with an assault rifle in his hands.

3. Sadly it will be about the destruction of Gustav
A horrid reminder of the failures of the Bush Adminstration - and a new nightmare in the making.

14. Gustav could be inconvenient for the Drill Now Brigade.
They wouldn't want oil rigs destroyed and oil spilled into the Gulf right in the middle of a "Drill here, drill now" chant.

27. Wonder if the President will know that it hit? Will anyone tell him? Will McCain know?
Nah... probably not... I will say how ironic the timing is.... Safe thoughts for those in harms way.

23. Yea it's perfectly ironic timing.
As the GOP parties in MN the gulf coast will be cringing under the assault from Gustav. No matter what's said or done at the convention it's likely to be overshadowed by the storm and it's aftermath and McCain's likely to come out of the convention with a negative bounce.

7. You sure it won't be Bagram US air base, or Guantanamo Bay, or Abu Ghraib?
I guess the story is that he withstood torture and became a toy of the N. Vietnamese propoganda machine. We give him credit for that, he was caught, imprisoned as a POW in a situation where on the opposite side there were stories of N. Vietnamese prisoners being lifted off over the ocean in helicopters and simply dropped. Not a good situation to be in! His story is extraordinary by anyone's book.

I wonder why he doesn't speak more about how he's disgusted about stories of officially sanctioned torture and murder in US prisons, of persons who've been deprived of all human rights? I mean, what kind of half-assed "democracy" would allow for such as that?

He hasn't won one in his 72 years, so why does he say he knows how to win one?
