Less unity and more anger, please. |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 10:16 AM by Donald Ian Rankin
From what I have been able to hear about the Democratic convention, there has been a lot about party unity and reasons why Obama and the Democrats are great.
That's all well and good, but if the election is a referendum on Obama then I don't fancy the Democrats' chances.
In the remaining days, what I'm hoping for is more about Bush, McCain and the Republicans, and why the Democrats are better than them.
I suspect that to many voters, the answer to the question "do you want Obama to run the country?" is far less obvious than the answer to "who would you rather have running the country, Obama or McCain?"
The primary generated a great deal of anger on all sides. It's relatively hard to make anger go away, but very easy to redirect it, especially when you have something as clearly infuriating as McCain to point it at.
Hillary Clinton's speach established beyond all reasonable doubt that she supports Obama. What I want to hear now is that she, and Obama, and the rest of the Democratic party, oppose McCain and the Republicans.
"No way, no how" is a start...

Time for everyone to get on the bus, or else stop typing for a couple months.

7. Just because the MSM refuses to cover it, that doesn't mean it isn't |
|
happening. Kucinich, Schweitzer, Casey and several others went after McCain yesterday, but the MSM only wanted to talk about the Clintons. Same thing is happening today...forget that it is actually Biden's day, we're only going to hear about Bill Clinton.
The MSM has a storyline they want to sell (the split in the Dem party) and by God, they are intent on selling it. And this is what the "average" voter is seeing and hearing...not what is actually going on at the convention.

10. Don't worry, after the convention is when the fight heats up! |

McSame broke the tradition of campaigning during the convention, so now all is fair game!

14. If you've just been watching CNN or MSNBC, and not C-SPAN, you're |
|
missing a lot! Yesterday, nearly every speaker contrasted Obama with Bush/McSame, and they didn't just say, "Barack good, McSame/Bush bad." No, they were talking about all the things Bush has done wrong, and how McSame will continue those wrong things. But you won't see a lot of them on the cable shows. You WILL see it on C-SPAN.
