1. Hopefully it misses New Orleans at least...
Yes, it would make a great reminder and all to devastate the city yet again, but I would prefer we lose out on the "opportunity" and miss the suffering altogether...

12. Heading into very warm Gulf Coast waters..
impossible to accurately predict what it will do. Katrina strengthened very unexpectedly at the last minute.

8. Well, it may end up being a direct hit on Baton Rouge but...
As a Baton Rouge-ite, I'll take it if it means sparing New Orleans.

11. This is frightening, they're already talking about evacuation of N.O.
Nagin has left the convention. This is terrible for the people of New Orleans.

13. What sucks about the Gulf of Mexico...
....is that there is no way for the storm to drift out to sea and dissentegrate over cooler waters. Once it gets into the Gulf, it's going to hit somewhere. We just have to hope and pray that it somehow weakens before hitting land, and hits in a relatively unpopulated place (and definetly not New Orleans and the Missisippi Gulf Coast again.)

15. per nola.com it looks like evacuations will happen this time
there will also be no "shelter of last resort". The Superdome will not be the scene AGAIN of death and misery. The Morial COnvention Center will also be shut down. It appears that this time the message is "GET OUT" and it's being enforced.

Y'all tape up/board up and get the hell out of there.
I hope Nagin and Bush are up to taking care of y'all
this time.

Peace!
