Why isn't Richardson being given a more prominent role? |
|
As good as the convention has been, one thing I'm puzzled by: Why hasn't there been more attention given to Hispanic representation within the Democratic Party? That is a key swing voting block that is not guaranteed to remain solidly in the Democratic column. I would have thought the Obama campaign would have showcased more of the Hispanic talent in the Democratic party. I was hoping Richardson would actually introduce Obama tonight, but instead he's not even being given a particularly prominent time slot. Any thoughts on this?

5. Good, I'm glad he's getting some face time |
|
I'd like to see him be Secretary of State - I think he'd be great.

3. Saw Richardson on CNN a few days ago |
|
He seemed very supportive, upbeat, saying all the right things. I think this is interesting too and have wondered the same thing.

4. I don't know... I do know that he sounded really upset that he didn't get VP though. |
|
He was talking on MSNBC Tuesday night and sounded really disappointed.
I'm sure he'll get a major position in Obama's administration though.

8. Explain that statement |
|
How would race ever become more important than Bill Richardson's resume.

9. This thread started complaining that Richardson - a Latino - is not given |
|
a prominent role in the convention, to emphasize the importance of this group.
Thus, I hope that Richardson does not get an important role in the Obama administration as a gesture toward the Latino population, but, yes, based on his resume. (His race can be the cherry on top).

I've seen many hispanic speakers up on the podium delivering speeches. Richardson is being given a pretty good spot---prime time which is more than some other governors got.
