Roe v. Wade will no longer be a useful tool to energize the RRRs.

It will be overturned, there can be NO doubt. :scared:

1. USA is not a democracy if that happens.
It's simple. It's no more a democracy than North Korea or Zimbabwe if that comes to fruition.

4. I used to think so; in fact I was convinced they'd never let it happen.
It will definitely become a hot-button issue with Palin in that position.

5. it'd be huge, sure.
Here's the thing, though - with abortion rights out of the way, the wingnuts would soon come to require the next big thing, whatever that might be: mandatory creationism, abolishing public ed outright, something. Much easier for the grey eminences who run the party to keep the RRs contained to abortion.

3. Doesn't that decision fall to each state, then?
I'm pretty sure it does.

6. ... and then only the women who can afford to travel to states where
abortion is legal will be able to have abortions. As a result, only women with money will be able to have abortions, while the poor are forced to turn to backrooms and coat hangers. Wheeee!

7. If you are raped, you will have to have that baby. If you are a victim of incest..
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 08:28 PM by liberalmuse
you will not be able to get a safe abortion. I worked with a woman who decided to have the baby after a rape, and it was very hard on her. She said every time she looked at her daughter, she relived the rape. No woman, or child deserves that. I think Gov. Palin's philosophy on this is absolutely repugnant. McCain did say he would ban abortion, in so many words, to Rev. Warren.
