Obama on Palin: "A fine mother and an up-and-coming public servant"
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0808/Obama_on_Palin_A_fine_mother_and_an_upandcoming_public_servant.html

Here's a excerpt from tonight's "60 Minutes":

STEVE KROFT:

What do you think of Sen. McCain's vice presidential choice? And how does it change the dynamics of this campaign?

BARACK OBAMA:

Well, I — I don't know Gov. Palin. I have not met her before. I had a brief conversation with her — after she was selected to congratulate her and — and wish her luck. But, not too much luck on the campaign trial. And — she seems to have a compelling life story. Obviously, she's — a fine — mother and — up-and-coming public servant.

So, it — it's too early for me to gauge — what kind of running mate she'll be. My sense is that she subscribes to John McCain's agenda. And ultimately, this is going to be about where I want to take the country and where Joe Biden wants to take the country, and where John McCain and his running mate want to take the country.

He also stressed that he'd chosen Biden because "he can step in and become president," even as McCain aides suggest that Palin will learn at McCain's knee, as long as she isn't called to serve too soon.

1. Obama has such class....
I hope that the rest of the dems who are out there tearing her apart for the shoes she wears or her choices as a mom will take a lesson from him. This is one of the things that I really respect about Obama. Lets follow his example!

3. Obama could be one of the finest men I have ever seen. Classy is a good word
to describe it..

If he hadn't believed EVERY WORD of what he said the other night, it would have glared like kleig lights.

6. yeah, but Obama's campaign has run plenty of negative ads...
so he's actually taking the advice of his consultants and pulling GWB. You keep your hands clean by acting like your'e above it all, and let your ads and PACs do the nasty stuff. THat is Politics 101, and both OBama and McCranky are doing it.

4. i hate to be mr grumpy
And this isn't addressed to Obama.

But, does she really have a compelling life story?

Obama & McCain, obvoiusly compelling life stories.

But Palin? Besides the politics, seems like the average life story to me.

5. The faux chivarly between McCranky and Obama makes me want to puke..
It's such total BS this election. This ain't a croquet match dudes. I'm sick of the Dems being so "pass the gray poupon" all the time, when we have had our candidates and elected officials treated like garbage by the GOP constantly. I say we treat McCranky and Palin with the same care that the Bush folks treated McCranky in the 2000 Primary. I say anything up to and including those attacks on McCranky (by the consultant that McCranky has SINCE HIRED!) is not off limits.

Fuck them. I'm sick of this faux polite shit. (but I do like the line about Biden being ready to be next in line.)

9. Obama is a Chicago politician. Watch his new ad.
You don't have to be screaming 'FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING FUCK' to attack effectively.
