Reporting to you from sunny Williamsport, PA... |
|
where they are just so excited over this Palin pick, they're going to burst!!!
"Wasn't she impressive..." "She's so charming and engaging...and clearly COMPETENT".
Now these aren't the words of the locals...they are the utterances of other visitors from NY and FL. These are the folks who came from nothing, made a lot (in some instances more-than-a-lot) of money, and look for excuses to vote Rethug rather than just admit that they are now dyed-in-the-wool Republicans.
One lady was commenting on the 'brilliant' speech that "Sarah" gave...and i asked her, "Excuse me, did she write that speech, do you think?" She just stopped dead, downshifted, and then 'retorted' "Name one politician who writes his own speeches." I replied, "Bill Clinton and Barack Obama - in fact, the media always makes a big deal about how they tinker with it right up to the end and drive the TelePrompter folks nuts." She grumbled something under her breath, and changed the subject...sort of. Of course I didn't let it go, but was reasonably courteous, since this is a social event...sort of.
My feeling is that you can't let this stuff slide, and to temper one's remarks based upon the confrontational or non-confrontational nature of the person with whom you are speaking. Like cockroach poison, the object is for them to take it back to the nest so they know that they can't get away with this with utter impunity.

1. Ask if they've seen an Obama speech. When they say no, tell them |
|
they'd better extend their experience before commenting on brilliant from a high school perspective.
