Prez and VP skipping their own convention - any precedent?
I Googled this question 10 different ways this morning and came up empty.

Is there any precedent in US history? Anyone? Beuller??

2. I would guess no. But then again there is no precedent for McDouche's choice of the
most under-qualified person in modern times as his vp running-mate.

5. Actually, 1944.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1944

President Roosevelt was making a trip to the South Pacific in order to discuss military strategy with General Douglas MacArthur, and thus didn't attend the convention. This was the last time that a presidential nominee failed to attend a national convention during the 20th century.


Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Apparently, FDR's VP did show, though.
