Why does Palin's pregnancy swap rumor matter?
While it is a fun rumor to play around with, the motive for any deception that may have happened is understandable and potentially admirable.

It reminds me a bit of the theory that Flight 93 was shot down. I could understand why that would be kept secret since no one would want to be the pilot given ''credit'' for killing innocent Americans.

In this case, a mom didn't want her daughter to get an abortion, be a single mom, or give her baby up for adoption. People have done this for generations, I think including Jack Nicholson's mom.

Probably more important, pursuing this looks petty considering that there's no effect on her ability to perform in office--unlike the trooper firing, her minimal experience, and her far right policy positions.

And while we are talking about that story, we are probably doing Karl Rove's work and distracting from what the GOP has done to fuck up Iraq and now Georgia, and their still possible plans to start a war with Iran.

What am I missing as far as the significance of the pregnancy rumor?

1. It emphasizes McCain's poor judgment.
It appears she wasn't even vetted. McCain is not fit to make important decisions that will affect the lives of not only Americans, but people around the world.

2. There are so many things about her at issue,
until it doesn't matter to me...which is why I have hidden so many threads to date, that when I look at my current board for this forum, it reaches back into threads from yesterday. LOL.

I will now hide this thread as well.

3. You're missing the hypocrisy of a fundie woman who would deny birth control
.....to everyone having a 16 year old daughter getting pregnant as a result.

7. True. Fundies don't want to give teens basic information and birth control, then want to condemn
them when they can pregnant and want an abortion.

4. It's not admirable to do that to your pregnant daughter.
This woman pushed abstinence only education and doesn't believe in birth control for anyone. Including married couples.

5. Thank you. This sort of thing can create havoc for us Democrats
unless someone of the rumor mongers steps forth with proof.

First of all they are accusing a young teenager and essentially
ridiculing a developmentally challenged baby. This makes
us look like first class THUGS.

Children are off limits . Our party above all should know
what to report and what to ignore unless there is some
proof. This is much too serious to just repeat rumors.

6. It matters because of her sanctification
The right is holding her up as the most anti-choice of the anti-choicers. "See? She could have aborted her Down Syndrome baby but DIDN'T!" So vote for her.

She returned to work THREE DAYS AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO HER SPECIAL NEEDS BABY. So vote for her! Wonder how that works for the Family Values (sic) crowd?

And the bizarre story of her flight from Texas to Alaska while in labor. Psssst, depressurization induces labor. I'm wondering if she leaked amniotic fluid all over the plane? By her own admission she didn't tell the flight crew.

It matters to me because Palin is being hailed as some sort of super-woman and uber-mom. The truth might be that she lied to everyone.

Do I care about her personal family choices? Nope. Do I care about the potential hypocrisy from someone being held up as a leader of the country? Yep.

I'm also offended that Old and Busted thinks ladyparts are fungible. "Hey gals who wanted to vote for Hillary! Look over here! Another lady! She has parts just like yours! Vote for us!" It's revolting.

15. It matters because these are the same people who want abstinence only education for our young people
While we have millions of teen in this country getting pregnant with babys - teens they are not equipped to care for babies financially, socially or emotionally.

Children having children is a serious problem and does not benefit our communities or our country.

8. It doesn't matter-except
that if they went through that to cover up what was a personal family situation that only mattered to her political career, and did such a sloppy job with their cover story that it's obviously fishy, and they still want us to believe this crap-they think the American voters are STUPID! We'll eat their BS and love it cause she's purty!

And that really pisses me off. Why put yourself in the spotlight if there is even a question of something like this? And if it's not true, then why have so many pictures been deleted from their websites? That looks like something is going on.

Maybe this is all just a Rethug plan to distract Dems. But as evil smart as Karl Rove is, I don't think he could plan this.

9. You've missed the lemming-like quality of the hypocritical Democrat.
Some Democrats are terrified of winning, so they choose to focus on insulting nonsense like conspiracy plots and misplaced motherhood identifications rather than on issues that would convince people to vote for our candidate. Thus, they give us Bush, Reagan, more Bush, and possibly McCain when it's all over. These same folk will whine about unfair media coverage of Clinton's penis, Gore's "lies," Kerry's swiftboating, and all other manner of injustices our candidates face, but when it comes to it, all they really give a damn about is the color of the jersey of the person they are swiftboating or invading.

Sadly, while these idiots are a minority in our party, they have the biggest mouths and fastest fingers, and love the sound of their fingers on keyboards.

12. Besides the fraud she committed the motives are far from noble or honorable
first Sarah is saying that a teenager that is pregnant is something to be greatly ashamed about. Secondly while she is all in favor of stealing those teen's right to abort, she showed she is unwilling to put her own daughter through the same situation she wants to force all other teens to go through. The motives reak of hypocrisy and false morality. Plus do you want to elect someone that is so comfortable lying and committing fraud?
