Raise your hand if you just can't summon a single shit to give about Palin and all this baby blather
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 03:55 PM by WilliamPitt
*hand*

The GOP convention is either about to begin or about to be postponed because New Orleans might get destroyed again.

And college football has started.

And the NFL starts next week.

Let's see...mmmmm, yup. That pretty much fills up my tank. Palin could have given birth to her sister's daughter's cousin's milkman's wife's grandfather's daughter's half-moose freak-baby after an illicit affair with Bullwinkle...who was later shot and devoured by governor Palin. Not the freak-baby, I mean, but the back-door moose guy.

Tittilating.

Don't. Care.

You?

Maybe we should suggest they make this it's own little world elsewhere.

I Like this quote.. 59. Yeah, I wanted to post this..thanks for asking!
<snips>

"There are several very good reasons why McCain would like to keep all debate and discussion in this presidential race right there with him in that slow lane. First and foremost is the simple truth that the man basically has nowhere else to go. His dilemma brings to mind that old maxim trial lawyers have lived and died by since time out of mind: when the law is with you, pound on the law; when the facts are with you, pound on the facts; if neither the facts nor the law are with you, pound on the table. That is John McCain's entire political reality in a nutshell.

The facts reveal that Mr. McCain has thrown his support behind just about every asinine and idiotic decision made by the single most unpopular and unsuccessful American president there ever was and, God willing, ever will be. The facts reveal that he has boomeranged away from so many policy positions he once espoused, going so far as to denounce a whole sheaf of legislation he had personally authored, because the Republican base despised those issues; but since he needed their support if he ever wanted to have a chance of winning, it was whiplash be damned and the Devil take the hindmost.

The facts, along with plenty of photographic evidence, reveal that while the city of New Orleans drowned beneath the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina, McCain was snuggling with George W. Bush beneath the very same blanket of willful ignorance and sadistic indifference that has defined this administration. By a horrifying coincidence, the city of New Orleans now finds itself in the crosshairs of yet another deadly hurricane, not only on the anniversary of Katrina's destruction, but also on the eve of the Republican National Convention that will officially nominate Mr. McCain as the GOP's candidate."

This woman is a clear liar and is probably breaking the law. The baby has a right to accurate information and not forged official documents.

There could be health concerns that need proper and accurate background information.

This is a grand slam for the democrats, so I am surprised so many are ready to try to kill our own victory...

21. It's OK Will, because you're not the demographic
The exact demographic that they hoped to appeal to with the Palin nom, is the same demographic that indeed does care about pregnancy and motherhood, mostly because so many can relate to it -- the timing, the days, the physical state, everything about pregnancy is more interesting to women, in particular mothers, than it is to most men.

Yes, there are exceptions, but we're talking about "in general" (so no "I'm an exception" posts necessary)

I could give two shits about football, and yet those are two items on your most important list -- see how that works?

Why would one be desperately trying to keep people from find out about the meme that destroys the credibility of the pick and of the entire campaign?

Remember when Keith Olberman gave that first editorial against "You Sir, Mr Bush".

It was great. We all loved and appreciated it. Like your writing.

Then he did it again. And again. Last time he started into one of these things, I turned it off. I can't listen to the feigned indignation over and over. It's formula schlock that he is milking.

Frankly, I haven't been able to read your writing for about 6 years, for the same reason. You don't give the reader a reason to read. It's the same old bloviated masturbation, regardless of the topic.

an explanation?

Guess what. I was making tie dyes from 9 til 3 am last night, and today I was cleaning my house all day. Haven't been online. Haven't read the 2000 posts. In fact, I hadn't even heard about it, except for hearing she went back to work after 3 days and thinking, man I can't imagine that.

Only women I have heard of having a baby without showing are when they are pretty obese in the first place.

I think there is a potential sticky issue with the real father of the baby being legally defrauded of proper parental identification.

This is FUCKING MAJOR if true and FUCKING MAJOR if only something people will talk and speculate about. There are the TWO mysterious details - no bump and back at work after 3 days. This has all the makings of at least a whisper campaign that destroys the capability of this ticket.

To put it poetically - McCain hasn't even left the Aircraft carrier and the entire fleet on deck is burning and exploding - all over again!

That's my explanation.

Will Pitt is a talent writer and a great guy.

Who, just maybe, has created this bullshit myth of nobility - that she gave birth to a handicapped child after choosing not to abort it. And, because she opposes the right to choose, her actions in this area should be particularly scrutinized. Perhaps women get this more than men? Now, one of the more interesting theories I've heard is that the baby may not have Downs at all, but be part Inuit. So passing it off as Downs, perhaps? Probably not true, but possible.

actually going well.

Lots of folks around here have Tippi Hedron Syndrome, i.e. they always seem to look and act like they're being attacked by birds.

After the last 2,500 days, you can't blame anyone for it. Shit, I'm out of my fucking mind half the time, and I think Obama's doing all right.

So.

there is this looming prospect of Republican victory through nefarious means. Yes, it bothers me when I read McCain-Palin leading Obama-Biden, even if I think the polls are bullshit.

For me, it is disturbing that there would even be the myth of a close race, because that's all they need to win.

Happened last two times - we are ahead on election day until 5:00 PM, when the trends are established and they know how many votes they need to steal at the tabulator to make it look like a plausible last minute victory for the republican.

who doesn't even suggest a quick trip to any of the number of quality hospitals in Dallas just to check things out before being out of touch (medically speaking) for 8 hours with a high risk, premature, fluid leaking, contractions starting. . . . If you don't see this as an issue, I can't help you.

Sarah Palin is "pro-life" in ALL circumstances...rape, incest, whatever. They say it's supposed to be a "joy" for a woman to give birth and reproduce for the good of all man and womankind. Why should her daughter be denied the "joy" that these fundies so espouse?

It matters a lot when you think that the make-up of the Supreme Court could be in John McCain's and possibly Sarah Palin's hands. These people want to take away a woman's right to choose, yes that VERY choice that Sarah Palin took away from her daughter.

This is all assuming that the rumors are correct, of course. This doesn't even address the issue that the fundies think pre-marital sex is a sin, and abstinence is an effective birth control method.

Balderdash...it's still all about them controlling women's bodies. If the rumors are true, that's exactly what she did to Bristol.

Edited to say that I still love the Steelers!

-I don't care if she lied about it.

As a matter of fact I think people SHOULD lie when asked about things that are not anybody elses fucking business, which includes ANYTHING relating to family, or sex except in case of rape or harassment.

I expect politicians to lie. They all do. It's like athelets using steroids, I don't give a damn and consider anyone who does a bore and in need of a life.. The ONLY thing that matters is how well you do the job you're hired or elected to do.

No sooner had I decared babygate the stoopidest non-issue ever when out of the blue, kablooie! Baby-babygate hit the fans.

Bristol's unmarried teenage pregnancy most certainly is an issue when the VP candidate:

1) is on the record as wanting to impose sexual abstinence misinformation and sexual terrorism on all of our children instead of actual reproductive healthcare information;

2) decides to subject her 5-months pregnant and unmarried daughter to national media exposure in order to advance her political career instead of simply telling Gramps "thanks, but now is not the right time, I have family issues that are more important";

3) was most likely chosen as a poster-mom for republican family values to draw the soccer mom suburban white independent female vote.

4) is on the record as proud of her daughters decision to keep the child, a decision she is also on the record as wanting to take away from all the rest of our daughters.

Its the hypocrisy, stupid. And it matters.

We get it... people think all the baby stuff isn't worth posting about. So we generate massive threads discussing whether we should be discussing it.

136. I care Will, I usualy agree with you but as a female who is a target
of her malicious need to ensure she decides what I do with my body, sorry, but I do care, you may no care and good on you but I feel as if this is personal..

137. Are you asking if I personally care, or if I care that it is internet fodder?
I personally could care less, other than it is always amusing to note the "do as I say not as I do" aspect of the moral majority. But as nutty internet stuff goes, it doesn't offend or bother me in the least. I just don't see a downside, as it obviously isn't coming from the campaign.

140. Personally I'm done with it and I'm ashamed I ever commented on it
There are lots of weird inconsistencies with the baby story but it can never be proved either way for sure. And so what it we did-the RW would turn it around and make us the bad guys.

It's sort of like a short tailed dog going round in circles chasing his tail until he passes out. Can't catch it, so might as well stop chasing it and concentrate on what could be the most dangerous ticket in my lifetime to our precious freedoms in this country. That's more important than who came out of whose womb when or a unmarried teenage pregnancy (I had one myself in 1980).

Besides, Barack Obama told me to stop and I love Barack Obama. :)

141. NO hand here.
If she's running on the strength of being a "hockey mom", then I want to see how her values and judgment stand the test. Focusing more on ambition and politics than family doesn't match the picture she's painting.

Yes, DU has gone overboard, but there are real flames behind the smoke.

145. Will, I care - I listen to RW radio & the insidious, damaging pressure they put on women & families
Dr. Laura & her constant rhetoric against working mothers & childcare - She should be wondering what the heck this Palin woman is doing working while having 5 children to raise - She should also be stating "if this girl's mother was home supervising her children, none of this would be an issue" - But no, you won't hear this.

Do you think Rush will be calling her a feminazi for leaving her new baby and traveling around the US. - No, you won't hear any of this.

Now just imagine any of these life events happened inside the Dem party - Oh my God would you be hearing about it.

So yes I care. - This woman does not seem to be a good candidate to be one heartbeat from the presidency.
