It is absolutely relevant, even if it is a little unpleasant discussing it. If the woman conducted such an involved lie over such an extended period of time, we have a right to know that about her. It is no different than if it turned out that McCain or Obama actually had a second family that they had been concealing. Character and personal integrity are valid questions.
