You ready for this? McCain considering using Gustav disaster area as prop for convention acceptance
From OUR good friend John Avarosis (who did a great job in Denver last week, you ALL need to support him)

americablog.com.blogspot

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/08/gauging_gustavs_political_impa.html

John McCain floating the idea that he might deliver his acceptance speech Thursday night from the area blasted by the storm.
What, McCain missed Katrina, because he was off having birthday cake with George Bush (though the corporate media isn't mentioning this in their coverage of Gustav, isn't that interesting), so this time he wants to take full advantage of the storm by using the victims as political props? Wow, that is simply sick. Then again, the McCain people like thinking of national disasters as political props. And don't forget, it was John McCain himself who said he'd never cancel a visit with our injured troops, even if the visit were considered a photo op. So, big surprise that McCain is now using Gustav as political theater.

10. I don't know how that happened!
I guess I was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, mad and my anger was three times as powerful as the normal Republican!

I thought about editing that mess, and then I thought...

"I'm sick of triple stupid (like BartCop says) and I'm triple MAD!"

So.

There it is.

8. Obama should call for volunteers from his campaign to come down to
help with clean up and raise money on line. This isn't soemthing that should be politicized that the GOP wants to do it and the media will let them get away with it, so Obama will also have to respond.

11. He is delivering his speech there to show how deeply he cares about hurricane
survivors! He always did, and he always will!

Oh wait...

Here is Barack Obama’s record on rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina:

Sept. 2, 2005: Obama holds press conference urging Illinoisans to contribute to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Sept. 5, 2005: Obama goes to Houston to visit evacuees with Presidents Clinton and Bush.
Sept. 7, 2005: Obama introduces bill to create a national emergency family locator system
Sept. 8, 2005: Obama introduces bill to create a National Emergency Volunteers Corps.
Sept. 8, 2005: Obama co-sponsors the Katrina Emergency Relief Act of 2005 introduced by Senator Harry Reid
Sept. 8, 2005: Obama co-sponsors the Hurricane Katrina Bankruptcy Relief and Community Protection Act of 2005 introduced by Senator Russ Feingold
Sept. 12, 2005: Obama introduces legislation requiring states to create an emergency evacuation plan for society’s most vulnerable

With thanks to Duer WA98296, here's how much McCain cares, from earlier today:

September 14 McCain voted AGAINST the Katrina Commission

A few weeks after the disaster, McCain voted against establishing a congressional commission that would study the response to Katrina. He opposed it again in 2006. As Factcheck.org reports, when asked earlier this year why he voted against creating the Katrina commission, McCain denied doing so. “McCain responded that he ‘supported every investigation and ways of finding out what caused the tragedy.’ That’s not true, the Web site states.

What’s more, (On September 15) McCain voted against extending unemployment benefits to the victims of the hurricane and spending $28 billion for hurricane relief.

McCain told Newsweek in April that he hadn’t come up with any plans for a still-recovering Gulf Coast. “I really don’t know,” he told Newsweek’s Holly Bailey.

So how will he deliver on his promise that a tragedy like Katrina “will never happen again”?

ALSO:
on November 3, 2005 McCain voted AGAINST Medicaid access for victims
On February 2, 2006 McCain votes AGAINST the Katrina Commission AGAIN
