The chemistry between OUR guys (great editorial)
Thanks to elleng for first posting this in editorials ....

Biden, Obama a Comfortable Fit on the Campaign Trail

snips ---

TOLEDO, Aug. 31 -- Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. was warming up a crowd at a town hall meeting Sunday morning when a woman shouted, "You are gorgeous!"

"I haven't heard that in a long, long, long time," responded Barack Obama's new running mate. "And hanging around this lean, young-looking guy is making me feel pretty old, you know what I mean?"

The audience cracked up, and so did Obama. When it was his turn to speak, a woman called out for Biden and Obama quipped, "See, she thinks you're gorgeous, too, Joe."

Obama picked Biden as his running mate in part because his colleague from Delaware brings foreign policy heft and a working-class Catholic pedigree to the Democratic ticket. But as the two barnstormed through the Rust Belt on their first campaign swing together over the holiday weekend, it was clear that they also possessed a more elusive political quality: chemistry.

"Marriages of political necessity are often really awkward," said senior Obama aide Linda Douglass. But she said even Obama has been surprised at how quickly he and Biden have clicked on the campaign trail. "There's lots of laughing and collaboration and consultation," she said. "He's just this cheerful presence in the group."

So far, Biden's role has been part father figure and part foil. He picks loose threads off Obama's jacket and warms up crowds with wisecracks and aphorisms. On Saturday morning, he and his wife, Jill, had French toast for breakfast with the Obamas His grandkids hit it off with Obama's daughters and have already had one sleepover. At every event, he and Obama embrace and backslap each other, like a pair of long-lost brothers.

"I'm really pleased with Joe Biden," Obama said as the tour was getting started on Friday. "You know, our families have just really hit it off."

1. I liked Kerry a lot

A LOT. I was devestated he lost, but I never liked Edwards that much.

This ticket has two winners in my view. Im really excited to get these men elected.

3. This is the best ticket in American history
Now, we all have to convince our neighbors of this truth.

Given what we have to work with, it really shouldn't be that hard ...

12. I liked Kerry and Edwards
And my choice to plunk someone straight in the White House is still Kerry -

but these two guys are just incredible together and there is a joy in watching them that is just different from Kerry and Edwards. I haven't put my finger on it yet, maybe it's just deep down knowing they're going to win. But this is a pure delight. They are just so fun.

I loved this;

I knew the Obama's would love Joe. :-)

On edit; I don't think Joe mangled anything on 60 minutes, and Obama did not "jump in", he was more or less saying "it didn't matter".

4. Jill and Michelle look like they really hit it off, too

As for Obama/Biden the two are complimentary and they collectively possess just about every attribute you'd want in political leaders. More importanr, Barack is not hierarchical and very respectful, and Joe has suffered more than enough in life to appreciate this moment for all it's worth.

6. I like in that op-ed how it said that the Obama camp was worried about
Joe being #2, and Biden said to them - Hey - I work for you.

Very cool. The are a perfect team.

I almost get the feeling while watching them, that Joe looks at Obama like a proud father looks at their son.

11. When it was revealed the VP was Biden, I could tell that they would suit each other.
I mean Joe's so blunt but completely well-meaning that it's hard to hate him. And Obama really likes to listen to people and is very good-natured too. It was pretty obvious they would hit it off really well. I'm so happy for them. They really do exude the partnership that the GOP keeps trying to claim is between McCain and Palin.

OMFG, on that topic, I remember bumping into this inane discussion of the graphic design of both campaign's logos where Obama-Biden's looked classy with both of them looking to the far future while McCain-Palin's looked like an ad for a news anchor team or something. But the RW nuts insisted that Palin was being visually presented as a partner to McCain while Biden was subordinate to Obama. Frankly, it's weird because Biden's name and face is a bit subordinate to Obama's name and face on the banners but it's quite obvious it's a equal partnership in person. While on the other hand, although McCain and Palin's banner presents them as if they're a weird sitcom couple, they're not in person-- they obviously don't mesh at all in public.
