in Illinois - 217839 (approximetely)

There are 59 Senators in the Illinois which most states divide those up pretty evenly - so Barack represented about 215K people in Illinois, which ironically about a third the population of the ENTIRE state of Alaska.

Just putting into perspective the 'experience' thingie
