Overheard in a restaurant this evening.

From the kitchen I heard voices with various phrases of incredulity like "Where the hell is Wasilla anyway?", and "A complete nobody from nowhere." and so on. (The restaurant is on the edge of the University of Oregon campus, and the staff is very young.)

I smiled.

From a nearby table, two white haired old ladies saying "how impressed" they were with Sarah Palin when they heard her speak.

I just about choked on my entree.

2. I've been hearing Repubs say they're impressed - but when the dust settles

and they start hearing more about her they'll freak. One of my indy friends who usually votes Repub is pretty disgusted and it may make him throw in the towel....
