Here's another local incident that really pissed me off about Sarah Palin..
.
.

Back in May 2007, ..The Democratic mayor of Anchorage was trying to get state funds to repair the leaking roof at Anchorage's largest hockey arena; also used as an emergency evacuation center if we ever need it.

Sullivan Arena, Anchorage

He requested one million dollars to completely repair the roof.

As someone who attends a lot of hockey games, I even wrote to the governor telling her that I've had to change season-seats twice now due to dripping from inside the ceiling. Many others wrote her as well as sending Letters to the Editor.

So our Mayor says on a radio show that it shouldn't be a problem getting the money; that it was desperately needed and that they should be able to start repairs as soon as Palin approves the money. (The arena is used for the professional hockey team, the college hockey team, and all sorts of home shows, garden shows, building shows, etc..)

What wound up happening though?

Sarah Palin vetoed every cent of the request stating that the money wasn't a "necessity at this time".

She's a nice hockey mom... providing the arena is in her hometown.. not in Anchorage.

She then turned around and gave her hometown's hockey arena (which was brand new) over approximately 1.5 dollars to add a new kitchen to it -- on the SAME day.

Also at the same time.... Some massive (MASSIVE!!!) wingnut church in Anchorage by the name of ChangePoint asked Gov. Palin if she would help bail them out by giving them $1.5 million dollars to complete the soccer dome they were building.

She didn't seem to have a problem with handing the Christian wingnut church the money they wanted.

But then --- a smaller hockey arena used by kids, as well as a smaller indoor soccer arena, got wind of what she was doing and tried to call her on it.

The owner of the soccer arena, Mike O'Connor, sent a letter to the Anchorage Daily News.

O'Connor's letter said: "We believe it is outrageous for the state ... to provide public financing for a facility that will compete with a privately financed facility."

As the House considered the capital budget Wednesday night, state Rep. Berta Gardner of Anchorage brought up O'Connor's objections.

"It just doesn't seem right that the state is helping one organization and the other is on its own," she said.

So you see....... this is the type of person she is.

*Screw the large hockey arena with the leaking roof.

*Screw the small hockey arena or the indoor soccer arena.

*Let's give money to a church instead!!!

The church now has their idiotic INFLATED sports dome.
(note: that's not the massive church in the photo behind the inflata-dome.. that's a warehouse)

The church is GIANT and is off to the other side of that ugly dome. Here's a small section of the church... it's much bigger than what is shown in this photo -

Sarah Palin SUCKS.

Not the fact that she wouldn't help out the obvious choice, but that she is being shown for the complete asshole that she is.
Course, I don't expect to see any of this on my T.V. screen anytime soon, either.

I second the motion of sending it to K.O. this is just the kind of thing he loves to point out to people.

On edit, recommended.

33. Is the college hockey team the one which her oldest son was kept off of?
I read (among the masses of posts yesterday) that the only reason her oldest son Track was in the military now was that he couldn't maintain the 2.0 QPA necessary to play on the college hockey team. His furious father forced him to enlist. So maybe the refusal to fund the new roof for the Anchorage arena was that special brand of Palin payback to anyone who crosses them.

If MY kid, who played varsity soccer for an Ivy college, had not been able to make the team because of grades, my response would be that it was more important that he get a college degree than play a sport, and if he couldn't get passing grades AND play an intercollegiate sport, he'd have to buckle down and bring the grades up. I sure as hell wouldn't have pulled the plug on his college education to send him into the killing fields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Both Palins are really bottom-of-the-barrell when it comes to parenting.

Too bad the conspiracy threads dominate.

It's also great to see a picture of Alaska. I really enjoyed my 3-month trip to Alaska in '95, then the week-long cruise in 2005.

BTW, the Democratic mayor of Anchorage, mentioned early in larissa's description, is Mark Begich, currently running for senator and with a substantial poll lead over scandal plagued Ted Stevens.

see churches that focus on more and bigger and better and fancy buildings as opposed to spending the money the way it's supposed to be spent, showing God's love through serving and helping people. And politicians who pander to superficial religious crap like that instead of considering all of their constituents piss me off even more.
