CUT IT OUT! Stop posting Palin/baby posts!
I'm fairly new here but this is ridiculous. I don't care if Palin had a baby, her oldest daughter had a baby or anything about that.

I've just spent ten minutes doing nothing but blocking Palin/baby rumor posts and I cannot keep up. I haven't seen it so bad since the Edwards scandal, which was equally ridiculous. I can't even find posts concerning real issues without accidentally clicking into several Palin/baby posts.

There are enough legitimate issues about the Palin appointment - her inexperience, wacko religion, extreme political views - to discuss. Please stay with them. We need to hit the McCain campaign with real issues and not sink to Rovian tactics. Please.

6. Have you ever considered leaving this site and not coming back?
Just a suggestion.

The fact that a fundamentalist Christian who would have our kids getting "abstinence only" education rather than access to birth control has a pregnant teenaged daughter is pretty fucking relevant. And the fact that she probably concealed this information from John McCain, if not the American people, over the past few days is HIGHLY fucking relevant.

This is the October Surprise (or one of them anyway).

7. Oh ok. Lying has nothing to do with a presidential race. Got it.
Ok, so I'll accept that she boarded 8 hours of airplanes in labor and that she placed Hefty bags on all the airplane seats to avoid creating an amniotic fluid mess on the seats.

Sheesh!

14. It seems as though GD:P means "General Discussion: Palin" here lately.
We all cooperated quite nicely here on Friday with blowing discussion of Obama's great acceptance speech almost entirely off our pages that day. Obama is running against McCain, not Palin. I would like us to focus our attention there again.

Why can't we talk about what we want to talk about? It's our board too. Are you somebody specially appointed to monitor the site?

13. I agree that the baby angle is not a productive attack.
If if the rumor is true it won't be a negative for her. There are many valid negative issues surrounding her and people are distracted from them by their mutual masturbation of this negative attack fantasy. Some actually think this would bring her down. Everyone should look at the trooper gate and the doctor gate for abuse of power angle, then look at how much her husband has actually made governor decision for her.

23. To add more now that they had the press release.
So the rumors are false because the daughter is now 5 months pregnant which means Sarah's baby could not have been the daughters. This changes the argument a bit to a valid argument about birth control and abstinence education. But that is still a side argument that fundies will never agree with us on. The main issue should be the abuse of power issue, the abstinence issue is a valid, but side issue.

28. That would be incredibly stupid of them to fight the baby rumor that way.
Saying she is pregnant now opens up ridicule from some for her not being abstinent and highlights the faults in abstinence only education. If you want to go down the path of her not being pregnant now you need to have proof, and not just a continuation of the fantasy that sarah's baby was her daughters because you want that to be true. This whole baby switch thing is just a distraction from the real issues of abuse of power. And it will be used disarm the abuse of power issue by saying 'look at the evil rumors the democratic bloggers use'.

20. So let's discuss her wacko religion - but why do we have to turn into Rove disciples?
And throw mud?

Palin is against everything I hold dear - environmental responsibility, a woman's right to make her own decisions (including about her own body), etc. But throwing mud that hits her daughter is not what I want to see. As I said, there are enough issues to fight McCain/Palin on - including what a dismally bad choice for the country she is. And how irresponsible McCain is to pick her.

Whatever choices Palin (or her master/husband) has made, the 16 year old daughter is not fair game. If she is, we are as bad as the Republic Smear Machine.

I guess I will give up GD:P for a while - again.

24. We are - Palin is clearly "DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO"
Your children are a reflection on who you are as a parent. If Sarah Palin & the republican party's policy of Abstience-Only education really worked this kid probably would not be pregnant.

16. The John Edwards/Baby Story....
certainly didn't get any traction, did it? Duh...of course it did and he was no longer running for President. While I personally believe that a person's private life is just that... private...when it begins to infringe on my life through policy or in John Edwards' case, the outcome of an election had he been the nominee, then it becomes my business. I never felt that Bill Clinton's problem affected the way he governed until the Republicans forced it to become a problem. I never condoned his behavior but that was private. I will not have this woman tell people to abstain from sex, not to use birth control in any circumstance and then cover up her own family's indiscretions. She could not control her daughter's decision to have sex but she could have educated her in how to protect herself from an unwanted pregnancy. And then, well, we know what cover-ups can lead to. I do not condemn the daughter...I do condemn the mother's actions after the fact. Hypocrisy reigns.

They propagate faster than the system allows them to be blocked. I am only replying to messages to my OP and will not otherwise visit GD:P until this idiocy subsides.
