McCain official to Stephanopoulos: Dem Attack Will "Backfire Spectacularly"

September 01, 2008 12:40 PM

ABC's George Stephanopoulos reports: Republican vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin today confirmed reports that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant.

Palin, the Alaskan governor, and her husband, Todd, released an official statement, explaining that their daughter, Bristol, will soon marry and raise the child.

An official with John McCain's campaign says the Senator was aware of the pregnancy and "didn't believe Governor Palin should be disqualified" for this, ABC's George Stephanopoulos reports. "If Democrats try to attack... it will backfire spectacularly," the McCain aid added.

1. Does he seriously think that the Obama campaign will go after this?
Of course he doesn't...he just wants to make the McCain campaign seem like the victim.

2. And FOR GOD'sSAKE, don't throw us into that briar patch...
If the McCain person says "Don't attack us," that pretty much indicates that we should be putting the dogs on them.

3. oh please. Dems won't attack.
Obama/Biden will make a generic "respect the privacy" statement.

It's the national enquirer and the Alaskan media they have to worry about.
