Can another Republican challenge the McCain nomination at the convention?

I don't know the rules regarding the delegate voting at the Republican convention. Could they choose to pick someone else as their Presidential nominee, kicking McCain off the ticket? As bad as it would be to pick another nominee this late in the game, it can't be any worse than finishing out the race with McCain at the top of the ticket.
