Rumors are swirling that Tim Pawlenty is furious
http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/2008/08/who_chose_palin/

Rumors are swirling that Tim Pawlenty is furious - that he was on the edge of McCain announcing he was the GOP VP running mate - but that at the last moment, that course was rejected in favor of a person McCain met once, six months ago, and did not interview again.

Huckabee is not pleased that he wasn't even vetted - and he's letting his followers know.

But it may be that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wasn't vetted either!

Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 01:29 PM by Jeff In Milwaukee
Huckabee carries more weight with fundies than Sarah Palin. If Huckabee turns on McCain for blowing the choice so badly, the support McCain gets from the base is considerably weakened.

3. McBush's pick was a move of desperation.
After watching Obama at the convention the Reps needed to a move, any move, to get attention.

Epic fail on their part.

48. Obama's speech accomplished many things.
1) It was masterful and made people more enthusiastic about and confident in him. 2) It also panicked McCain, who made a seat-of-his-pants decision that will likely prove fatal to his campaign.

4. Remember when he abruptly left Colorado?
I'm sure he was here and then the story as that he packed up and split in a perceived huff.

At the same time rumors were out there that Romney was pissed about something, too, since he stopped talking to the press. Then Palin was announced.

19. Could be
They will use the hurricane as an excuse so the does not have to give any speech at the convention. They are going to milk the hurricane for everything they can, no Bush speech, no Cheney speech, the reason so many republicans weren't coming, and possibly the reason Palin can NOT give a speech. It will be interesting to see just how far they go with this excuse.

12. The whole thing just boggles my mind.
McCain is old, o'key? His VP has a realistic chance of becoming president. With that in mind, he should have picked someone ready to be president if necessary. It is really important who his VP is.
Why pick this woman, whom, reportedly, he doesn't know very well?

Palin doesn't seem the most qualified to run at the top of the ticket.

21. No vetting at all as far as anyone can tell.
Newspapers in Alaska hadn't been contacted about Palin archives by the McSame camp as far as anyone could tell. That's the first step in the vetting process.

It's looking more like they are going to throw her under the bus and open the door for McSame choose Ridge or Lieberman as her replacement. If so, that would be as hilarious as it would be disastrous for them. The Rabid Religionists would never tolerate anyone but a Dominionist on the bottom of a McCain ticket.
