I just got home from the rally in Detroit today. It was a lot of waiting in the hot sun, and Obama only stayed for a short time, but I was able to get some excellent pics. Here are my favorites.

He spoke for only a short time...

14. I was really close.

There were only about 6 people in front of me (including the only tall man in a hat in the entire crowd LOL), so I just cropped him out.

The camera did all the work, including insisting on focusing on the back of the hat of the only tall man, so quite a few of them turned out blurry. I'm content with what I got, though.

Being that close to him, I'm sure he'll remember me next time, and I should be getting a birthday card from the family in October. :rofl:

The county coordinator I've been working with for the campaign had two of the yellow tickets. He was nice enough to give me one of them to thank me for the stuff I've helped him with. That's how I was able to get so close. They had a section down in front of the stage reserved.

Super crowd, eh? The line before the gates opened was incredible. There were a ton of people waiting.

Are you liking the Metro area ok? I hope you're all settled in. Get some boots and a warm coat, and you can put away the sunglasses. Chilly, dreary winters. blech...

All the Obama shirts were wonderful.

Got all my warmies. It's great to be back home and see how much they built up Downtown.

Now all they have to do is get the rest of the city a makeover.

It was truly amazing to see him so close, and to think...wow...a real soon-to-be President, yet so natural and engaging, sincere and real. I would imagine in a face to face situation, he would put one at ease very quickly.

Democrats have chosen well with this man. I hope the rest of America will join us in our enthusiasm and wisdom.
